Sleeping & mind running wild

Hi everyone! I’m relatively new here and I’m very nervous about posting. Since lockdown has started I’ve had trouble sleeping (which I have never experienced before) throughout the night. My body is so tired but every-time I drift off I jolt and wake myself up / stop myself from falling asleep. I think it’s anxiety, my mind over thinking traumas I’ve experienced and stress. I’ve tried the sleeping apps with calming music and podcasts but it’s really not helping me at all. Can anyone help?☺️

Hi sunflowerlife, you are definately not alone with sleep disturbances during lockdown. It’s totally understandable given this pandemic is something out of our control. Our country has now come out of lockdown and all of our cases are now coming from those people returning to this country if their birth and are being detected at the border. That has relieved me a bit but I’m still struggling to get a full nights sleep. I’ve tried everything to no avail and my therapist said it will eventually come right. This pandemic has had us all on high alert and the adrenaline is released into our systems when that happens. I’ve just found the book, ‘the body keeps the score’ on you tube it’s an audio and I’ve decided when I wake in the night to put that on to listen to.

By the way I didn’t say welcome to the group.

I look forward to more sharing from you.

Ah I’m glad I’m not the only one! It begins to be frustrating not being able to sleep which almost makes going to sleep worse!

But thank you☺️ I look forward to all the advice I receive and what I can give as well as help from this lovely forum!
