Micky14, I know the feeling well.

Have you read this thread started by Michele on dissociation: healthunlocked.com/healmypt...

Do you think it is the meds? Some meds can cause that feeling.

Michele posted some links on this thread that may help you get more in your body and feel more grounded. ( Scroll down to her reply )

I'm so confused about how I'm feeling I know I'm in the room but then it's like I check out when I go out its dreamy just weird I used have the space feeling and felt like I was miles away from my body and fuzzy vision but since taken med everything seems more real but lowered med because it spaced me out but still feeling odd it's like the med is helping because I can not panic but just do not feel myself I'm so confused and scared at what I'm suppose to feel like :-((((

Micky, there are many different kinds of meds. Maybe the one you are on is not the right one for you - even at a lower dosage.

Can you call your Psychiatrist and talk to him or her about this? If this is the side-effect of the med. then maybe you can try a different one. I had to try many before I found one that did not have any negative side effects.

You may be using the med my mom uses that numbs her feelings so she can not even react normally. She is not connected to the real world. What is sad is that my dad likes her this way. :(

Yeah...I understand your feeling. It is best you talk to your doctor about this asap. I did look up literature on the drug here:mayoclinic.org/drugs-supple...

In the meantime, how about you try a very simple grounding exercise that I learned in IOP (IntensiveOutpatientTherapy) :

It is called 5-5-5.

Just sit wherever you are.

1. Find 5 things of the same color around you.

2. Listen for 5 sounds in the room.

3. Feel 5 things (like your foot on the ground, your fingers on on legs, your hand on your hair or table, (you can touch things)

Keep repeating this until you feel present - not anywhere else. It should bring you back into your body.

Please share with me if it works, or not.

I am hanging in there with you. You are not alone!

Getting a massage gets me into my body. Sometimes I sit in my car on a hot summer day and the heat puts me in my body. Anything that affects my bodily sensations grounds me.
