To jones boy,

as ChiliDawg states PTSD IS an illness with changes of the hyppocampus and the amygdala. This has been documented since the 70'ies by MRI scanns + obsevation of attacks. Most of this research has been carried out in the US,but by now quite a substantial amount in the UK,too. It's been documented, by neurologists, to be a state of NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL changes. Defined as a condition characterized by seizures resulting from a single "event",in that the person for 3 1/2 hours experienced him/herself, to be in imminent mortal danger.

It's a misconception, that you should try and "bring on" flashback attacks,as to "confront them: Flashback attacks are potentially dangerous-f inst violent hyperventilation can lead to respiration stop.Crucially: With it each flashback attack, it wears on the person's psyche and will with certainty set them back a lot.! Therapies, that Work with anxiety or with depression, are not necessarily applicable, when there's a condition, with an actual brain change. Love& understanding does a lot to help-not any "fancy" therapy.

(Sorry for the problem with the setting).

Kind regards,Kirsten(KTRANSC).

PTSD is being re-classified as a brain injury since it is a physical transformation of the brain due to trauma.

is there anything you can do at home to help your brain to heal i was looking at a youtube clip regarding brain integration and it was offering a therapy that dealt with the amygdala and the hippocampus its in america so im never going to get there to try it and my days of spending money trying differnt therapies are definately over........

There is a lot. Several books about healing are on the market or available at libraries. Sunlight, movement, and other physical stimulation are said to change the chemicals in the brain and nervous system.

Well said, Kirsten. I can't imagine how adding psychedelic drugs to what we have to deal with would improve the condition.

Hi Dan, can you explain in more detail what you and Kirsten were referring to when talking about the PTSD and the brain....not sure I understand. That would really inform me.

Thanks Dan,

Sugar-pants,

I don't know much about the brain aspect of PTSD. This post was written in response to a guy who was suggesting using LSD to treat PTSD. He was a really flaky character, and Kirsten was trying to counter his arguments with this post. I wouldn't try to make too much of this explanation, because it was in conjunction with a post of his.

That's a great summary describing what happens to the brain. Is there any info on describing physical changes to reverse this injury back to a normal pre trauma state?
