I went out for the first time in 6 weeks yesterday.as i have been unable to walk. my feet and ankles have been swollen and painful, anyway i manage to go to the shop which is about 15 mins walk and my leg started burning and itching like mad. i think it was like hives but not sure is this yet another symptom of fibro. keep strong fibro buddies. Anna.

That doesn't sound like a fibro symptom, Anna, but if you have been immobile for some time with swelling, and then start walking around, the sudden change in circulation will make the skin on your legs hot and itchy. Immobility and swelling doesn't do your circulation much good, and your skin will have lacked a good blood supply.

This could be potentially nasty, and you should see your GP as soon as you can.

In the meantime, keep your legs up when you're sitting, apply some moisturiser (E45 is good) and if you can, get someone to massage your lower legs from the ankles upwards.

If you can manage it, try taking brief, frequent walks - 5 minutes six times daily will do far more good than one 30 minute session. I feel that your GP may refer you for some physio, and possibly some water tablets to reduce your swollen ankles, but you will need some treatment, so don't be fobbed off with 'it's just fibro'!

Best of luck with this, and please let us know how you get on :)

Going by symptoms of fibro think I could say day to day I have that many , had this one too itchy skin lower legs and also burning to swelling too . I've had this coming and going for weeks . Sometimes it just starts when I get up then has gone after been up for two hours . I Dnt find my doctor serous anymore as soon as I was diagnosed with fibro it's as if I'm just put to one side and everything that happens I don't get their attention . My advise is to get into your doctor and ask ,, ask as many questions as you need to . Be sure that all symptoms are checked because its so easy for doctors to just say fibro for anything as this has been my exsperience since I found out in January ,,,

Do see your GP. Swelling and hives are not usual symptoms of Fibro, though Fibro can make you more sensitive to any stimuli.

Have you seen the doctor about the swelling?

in reply toLindseyMid

Hi yes I seen the doctor about the swelling , but they always say the same thing, FIBRO , I have noticed the the clothes i usually wear have started to get itchy on me like any thing nylon, wool, yes your right I must have stared getting sensitive skin . So is that the Finro. Many thanks Anna.

Thanks for your replies , that's great advice from you all I will take the advice and ask my doctor about it, it was very bad at the time and has settled down now, but scared I will get it again when I go out, hugs Anna.
