Do the heels of your feet kill to stand on?? Ouch!

miss_boo profile image

This week, when Ive stood up to walk my heels have been soooo painful. I'm walking like a 90 year old.

I'm presuming it's my fibro as it's in both feet, the chance of it being something else would be pretty remote surely?? %>_<%

Hi miss_boo

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering with heel pains at this time, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to the issue. I have pasted you several NHS Choices links below as there appears to be several medical issues that can cause this problem. So I really hope that you find them useful:

nhs.uk/conditions/heel-pain...

nhs.uk/Conditions/heel-pain...

nhs.uk/Conditions/heel-pain...

I really would discuss this matter with your GP to to make sure that there is nothing else going on here and to help put your mind at ease. There may be some treatment that you could be offered for this issue.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Miss Boo,

So it is the heels of both feet you have checked them for fissures and deep cracks. Have you checked your shoes have you been wearing the same pair for a long time.

I do not know the answer I just know I would give them a good long soak and then keep them really elivated. Masses of cream E45 massaged in . If they still hurt go to the docs .

Best wishes to you

xgins

My skin is good and my shoes usually comfy, it's the whole back part of the sole of my foot. The only way of explaining is that they heel like they have had injections in them, a really sore ache. It has nearly reduced me to tears. I collapsed in bed, I may give them a soak tomorrow, struggling tonight. Than for replying.

That sounds very much like Plantar Fasciitis, see your doctor to be sure, but its not serious, you just have to do some special exercises. I have just been diagnosed with this.... Let's see who gets better first, race ya! ( hobbles away muttering):LOL.

Hi I get this as well, also underneath my feet

It only seems to last a few days, can't stand

Heat on them, or the cold.

I get this, if I'm sitting I have to put my feet on a cushion and that helps. Walking is a different matter! X.

Hi miss boo,

As someone else suggested, it sounds like Plantar Fasciitis.

I have had this for 6 months in my right foot, and my doctor diagnosed it. She sent me to see the physiotherapist who gave me exercise s to do everyday..... there has been a slight improvement... but physiotherapist says it can take up to 2 years to get better!!!

I find it is worse when I first get out of bed in morning and when I stand up after sitting down for a while..... it is better if I keep moving!!

I have also got some special cushion insoles which you can buy from the chemist that you put in the heels of your shoes which helps.

Probably best to get it checked out by your doctor. Xxx :)

Hi. I am finding high dose D3 helpful for heel pain, and the little foam wedges that you can buy in Matalan and Primark help too. A slight heel also seems to help. Hope you feel better soon x

Hi miss_boo

It is painful isn't it I have a condition called plantaar fasciitis, among other things, and wondered if it was possibly this but I don't know your full medical history and I'm not a medical professional so I can't tell you for sure.

I recommend that you go to see your GP and discuss this new pain as it is important in order for them to keep track of your illnesses but mainly this time because a referral to see a podiatrist could be worthwhile for you :)

Both Gins and Ken have given you some very good advice also :)

Hope you find relief soon and please let us know how you get on :)

Custom made footbeds (insoles) helped with this apparently having an awkward gait because I avoided bending painful knees and ankles was given as why the problem had happened.

Another plus point for the footbeds was keeping my toes from curling under my feet when cramp kicked in a real plus when heels are not wanting any part of walking.

I love the squirrel Ian :) very cute :)

Thank you Ian, funnily enough, I'm under direction of a podiatrist at the moment and am test driving insoles for my trainers.

I have incredibly high arches, long toes apart from the little toes and the second little toes which curl under. On the right foot the little toe and second toe have started to web together :(

I'm double-jointed so over the years have over stretched or understretched varying joints even the toes :o Of course there's years of manual labour based jobs involving being on my feet all day, of wearing high heels and before that I was a long distance runner and heavily into sports type activities for many years so my poor feet have been through the mill and I now fall over a lot and have no balance :o

There is a chance they might not be able to help me yet so my fingers and toes are doubly-jointed crossed LOL :)

I hate toe cramp it's very uncomfortable it feels like my toe will snap too if I try to move it yeurgh! shiver shiver!! sorry Ian :o

I hope that you can find relief from this too, it really is very painful. I try to stretch my feet as often as possible and when they get really painful I will apply my Ibuprofen based pain gel to help reduce the pain a little and calf stretches. I cannot say whether this will work for you as I'm not a medical professional just making a friendly suggestion :) Asking your GP about whether it is ok to apply a gel might be good as I don't know what medications you are taking and it's a good idea to check first in case it clashes with something else that you take or use :)

Hi miss_boo I have Fibro and also have pain and burning in my heels after standing. I have tried EVERYTHING. Finally I was told I have no fat in my feet. My feet are narrow and thin. When I was younger they were as wide as they were long and thick. This might be your problem??? Hope this helps.

Hello Miss_boo,

As other suggested it sounds like Plantar Fasciitis as I get these painful heels with pain shooting up my leg. Please see the link for further information;

patient.co.uk/health/planta...

I am prescribed Naproxen to help with this pain and use either shoes made by companies like Fit Flop or use Memory Foam heel wedges to help too. There are exercises that can be used to help which you could do regularly as advised. If you speak to your GP and he feels this is the problem he/she will be able to advise further

Hope this helps

Emma :)

Hi

To me this sounds like plantar fasciatis which I have suffered with (off and on) for about 2 years. If you see your Dr they will give you a definitive diagnosis and will be able to recommend some simple exercises which will benefit you greatly .See this link: patient.co.uk/health/planta...

In very layman terms it is a condition which means that the inside insoles of your feet need to have extra support. I find I can't wear little flat pump type shoes. I need to have something with a little support. However the best thing I got were some insoles which you can pop into any shoes. These are hard (not like the soft insoles you buy in supermarkets etc) and they support your feet in the correct places. They only go from your heel to half way along your foot. The company who makes them is called Footmedics. I got them whilst on a day out in Harrogate (even though I don't live there) but found a place nearer to home this week that also sells them. The company website it shuropody.com/brands-en/foo... and that will be able to tell you if there is anywhere near you that also sells them. At least you could go for a consultation as that is free.

I hope you find some relief soon.

Take care - GG x

i have the same problem but my reflexologist usually tells me what bit of me it is that is aching. Recently I have pain in heel that hasn't gone away and isn't related to anything i.e. bowel condition so suspect it may be plantar facilitis as not in other foot, but will go to GP to check. With fibro I do have burning feet though. I suspect it could be to do with your fibro.
