Have not had hives recently or for as long but can understand how uncomfortable they make you feel.

Multiple chemical sensitivity is an area worth exploring as we are hypersensitive to pain we can also become hypersensitive to irritants that would normally only produce a mild allergic reaction.

Wishing every success in your search for answers.

Hi pjmain

I am so sorry to read this and I genuinely hope that your course of steroids helps alleviate the problem. I have only once ever had anything remotely similar to this, and it was quite a few years ago I experienced ''Urticaria M28, which was brought on by an allergic reaction to latex. It was the first time that I have ever had this reaction in all my life and it came on out of the blue? I remember the hives were awful.

I want to wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I have had hives twice this year and on both occasions it was just after finishing a course of strong antibiotics. I seemed to get it 2 days after finishing the antibiotics and it would last for a few days and then go.

Hi pjmain I couldn't believe it when I read your post this morning. I am on my third bout of hives in 10 months. They are horrendous. The itching lasts for 8 days and nothing touches it. I can only get relief lying in a cool bath. I hate it because I need help getting in and out of the bath and am being more of a burden than usual :o( Good luck

I have them on my hands and feet, which is where most of my pain is. I tried steroid cream and antihistamine and nothing worked. The only relief I get is putting my hands or feet in cold water. But I've discovered that keeping them cool, taking socks off before my feet are too hot, and not putting any cream at all on, no moisturiser. My hands are worse in the summer when I put sun tan lotion on. If nothing's working you could try nothing at all on then for a week and see if it helps.
