Legs seizing up

A new development for me is my legs really seizing up after walking. I've had fibro dx for over 5 years. I'm used to morning stiffness and my ankles not wanting to move when I get up. This year, I've generally been doing okay. I've been walking the dog quite regularly and it's been going really well.

However, in the last few weeks I've been getting some nasty nerve pain when I walk in one hip and thigh; one of my feet feels almost sprained and my ankles/calves ache loads. This has now got to the point where if I walk, my legs seize up as soon as I sit down and I struggle to get up and move around. I feel like I'm going downhill and it's very scary.

Is it fibro? Is there anything I can try to help it?

Hiya, is it an on going pain or is it a sort of on and off pain? And does it go away once you’ve relaxed?

Hi, thanks for replying. The nerve pain in my thighs keeps going. Leg pain can be on and off. Right now, relaxed with nasty pain in inner thigh and mega pins and needles in my feet.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I get the same leg pain and ankle pain but on and off and most times can’t walk when I get the pains. Have you been to the doctors about the new pains? Because they may refer you for further tests to check for any nerve conditions or damage possibly?

Hi I have problems walking - more when stressed. - so I really try and keep stress/anxiety at bay - not that easy - I have my most pain in the morning or when I have overdone it - hope this help- neese. x

Can I make a suggestion?go to you tube and watch this video on meralgia paresthetica, just watch it and see if it relates to your pain cause I have that and you just described my symptoms I had for twenty three yes but was only diagnosed the other day.let me know please?video is ten minutes long I think its a Dr nebil or nebal.

Like you, I try yo keep mobile by dog walking. Some days are more successful than others. You could try gel insoles. I wore my winter boots for the first time last week. Forgot to put the gel insoles back in them and the pain when I got home..... I could barely move around the house for the rest of the day, or the next. Been much better since I refitted the gels. I've found Superdrug's are as good as any.

I tried to put Boots gel insoles into my winter boots yesterday but they were so thick that I then couldn't get my feet in them properly. So big disappointment plus waste of money! I'll have a look at Superdrug's to see if they're better for me. I've got hikng boots that are comfortable, but they're not a really good look if I want to be smart! Also this morning when walking the dog my legs felt like they'd forgotten how to walk properly. It's not that I couldn't walk and my legs ached as they often do, but having to think about moving my feet and legs was weird. Is that something anybody else has had?

Hello, wow how strange i sed same thing to my son other week, niw just like you I've suffered 10 years of fibro but recently my legs seize up mid walking and is hard to keep going its put me off walking any were at all now i thought maybe its the cold seizing my bones more than usual or maybe its due to being menopausal but I've not been to ask doc if could be anything else coz they say everything I go for is down to fibro but this did freak me out coz I thought i wasnt going to be able to continue my walk home, did you go the docs and find any answers ? ...thank you xx

Not yet but I'm going next week so I'll update. Had a thought it might be low Vit D. I do take it, but maybe not enough. I'll let you know.
