I went to the doctors this morning to get my painkillers increased for the pain I'm suffering in my back , neck & shoulder. I explained to her that I have noticed that my heart 'flurries' - after listening to my heart she sent me straight to the hospital for an ECG .. Which turned out to be 'abnormal' & now I have a heart monitor on to record over 24 hours!
I never expected this at all, was just expecting her to say 'keep an eye on it' .. Has anyone else experienced this before?
I asked her if it might be due to my medication & her reply was 'its unlikely'!

that's what happened with y friend's husband. the monitor will give a clearer understanding of how things are over a day.
some people's readings are flawed in a normal, 5 minute, cuff test, particularly if they are anxious. the box will "keep an eye on it" you just carry on as you normally would - I know of someone who sat in a chair all day and barely moved - her husband fetching & carrying!
I think that your doctor sounds like a good un!
hope things are ok, and remember - if they were in any way worried; they would not have let you go home.
Don't worry yourself I have this also - I had a monitor on for 24 hrs and carried on as normal and wouldn't you know it I had very little flurrys that day although the monitor did show something up I've not been told it was anything untoward so presume its within normal limits don't worry I'm sure it will be fine x

IT's good that you're having these tests. 'Palpitations ' such as you describe used to be considered insignificant, but in a small number of people they can indicate underlying problems. Nowadays the practice is to check and make sure!
I hope your heart will turn out to be fine, Charlie, so don't worry, but better safe than sorry!
What a strange coincidence! I had a really bad night's interrupted sleep last night and the last time I was awake I noticed a strange irregular heartbeat. Forced myself to calm and breathe normally and it righted itself but was scary. Was thinking of posting about it and here is this post! Looked arrhythmia up when I got to work and it's shown as a possible side-effect for Amitriptyline. Decided to mention it at my review in a couple of weeks if it doesn't happen again. Hope you turn out to be OK charlie x
