Sorry....

Sorry guys for the moaning but I'm feeling down and to be honest a bit sorry for myself.

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for over 8 years and have had major back surgery (after being paralysed) hip and knee. Then to cap it all had major open brain surgery in 2009 followed by another for MRSA and then three more...

To cap it all three weeks ago I had a cluster of seizures caused, the docs believe, by scarring on my brain from surgery. So now I am also classified as epileptic. I am trying to study for a degree and my head just spins when I try to read a text book! I am just so hoping it is because of the cocktail of drugs and when they decrease my head will improve!

Sorry for the moan guys. Thanks for reading xx

Saying all that I know I am lucky - I could be dead and would have been if my two sons hadn't resuscitated me during the seizures. I am so glad I taught him how to do it!

Hi Marion

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time, with yet another problem!

Have the docs got you on new meds for the epilepsy as well? Many of these can have quite strong side effects at first that should hopefully then ease.

best wishes

Linz

I'm on two lots at mo, but easing down on the dose of one. Yes they are making me so tired, but now I am starting to be able to focus and see better!

Where are you doing your degree. They should have a disability department that could help with course difficulties at the moment, even if it's while you get used to meds. Your course leader could also help at this time.

Hope your feeling a bit better soon.

Hi marion with what you've been and are currently going through I think your entitled to complain, moan, vent or feel sorry for yourself. I have a son with epilepsy and I know how frightening a seizure can be. Thankfully you have been diagnosed and are receiving appropriate treatment. There are lots of epilepsy support groups and forums around which can advise and inform you and give you some support.

Take care and hopefully you will get to grips with your new condition

Hi Marion,

I very much hope that your doctors will be able to sort this out for you soon - it must be very distressing.

Is there any chance you could get text books on audio-tape, or CD?

As Jo said, your Uni will probably have a disability dept, and they will have audio books for visually impaired students. I guess that includes you at the moment if you have difficulty focusing because of vertigo!Just a thought.

Best wishes for your rapid recovery and success in your studies.

Love

Thank you all for your comments. I really appreciate you spending time making suggestions. I have tried the audio book route but unfortunately they are not routinely made and to have them made costs more than my student loan can afford! lol But I will get there... I have to.My sight is improving.. I certainly wouldn't have been able to type this length of response two weeks ago!

Best Wishes

Marion
