Has anyone got experience of using these? I have been advised by the physio to use one on my back but I have no idea if I should use it continuously or for 10 mins each hour or any other time span. Any ideas/advice gratefully recieved.

TENS Machine
Yes I have one and have had for years. I was advised by the physio to get one for my back. I was given one to try out to see if it was the right thing for me, which was a help. I find it useful, but no way is it a cure. It can take some time to get used to it, but I go about my daily chores with mine on. It's worth a try, as it numbs the nerves which is where we often feel the pain. Hope this helps good luck
Cheers. Does it work continuously? Mine did something for 10 mins and then turned off.
Hi Suzy, yes I have mine set on constant and just turn it off when I have had enough.
Ok thank you I'll switch it back on. At the moment I can barely walk due to the pain & weakness in my legs. Been signed off work until 11/2 but hope its sorted before then
For some reason the tens machines don't work with me, i guess its like other things in life you have to try different things and see what works for you! Good Luck. Mels.x
Same here it just felt like I was being annoying slightly electrocuted as well as the pain but if it works for some that's fantastic

Be careful check with your doctir furst I have been told thst it would oremot a heart attack because of whats wrong with my heart....just saying.....
Yes I should have said to Suzy that it is best to check with your doctor. It is important not to put a tens machine anywhere near the heart or head, ,
Ok thank you
I am in love with mine , it really works for my back I have had it on for as long 3days sleeping with it too.
It didn't do a great deal yesterday but will try it again today
Here's another discussion we have had on TENS machines, hope you find this helpful -

It seems like TENS machines work more efficiently when we are shown how to use them first so that they perform better for us, say by a Pain Management Clinic first.
Ok thank you
Hi i have a really good one with four pads .It can be very helpful when you want a break from pain .I can use it on my legs as it makes them so irritable its as bad as the pain ,you also have to perserver because it takes time to find the right spot .If its right its not unpleasant if its wrong its not nice ,HTH
Thank you yes we have one with four pads maybe I just need to adjust the placements
My TENS has four pads and it says not to use it persistently, sometimes I get a red patch on my skin if I use it twice in succession without changing the site, but it doesn't hurt but it takes a few days for the red patch to go away - my skin isn't too sensitive. I find it very useful for back pain (but not as useful as trigger point massage which gives longer pain relief) and I find it most helpful for Interstitial Cystitis as it really helps to cut out the feeling of wanting to pee for a time, so if I use it just before I go to bed it means I can gt off to sleep.
I was sold a Tens machine by a Physciotherapist about ten years ago, I would not be without it, I have even had it on all night.
Gentle Hugs
I was given a TENS machine to try by a physiotherapist, she showed me how to use it properly but had to give it back next time I saw her as it gave me migraines
