Hello there Sherry, so sorry to hear you have these awful pains. I sympathise as I have these sort of pains in my legs and feet. The pain you describe can be symptomatic of having Fibromyalgia, if you click on the link below it will take you to an article on our main site at FibroAction. The article describes pains of this nature -

fibroaction.org/Pages/What-...

The reference to sharp, shooting, piercing pain is common with having Fibromyalgia, but these pains can also be felt with Restless Leg Syndrome (I have this too), or Neuropathic Pain which can be felt all over the body.

Whilst the pain you are feeling could be Fibromyalgia related it is always advisable to get your pain checked out by your GP. They might consider referring you to either a Rheumatologist or a Neurologist who would hopefully treat you for this.

It might also be a good idea to speak to your GP about your medications, we all need these reviewing from time to time, You might not be getting sufficient pain relief to help you manage your symptoms for example.

I hope you manage to get some relief and comfort from your pain soon. If there is anything we can help you with, please don't hesitate to ask us, we are always only too happy to try to help where we can or at least try to point you in the right direction.

Take care. Sherry. (((hug))) xxx

Hi Sherry,

I agree with Liberty, although these pains are part and parcel of Fibro, they can also be symptoms of arthritis, so it's wise to see your GP.

You obviously need your pain medication adjusted - there's no point taking an inadequate amount.

I hope you feel better soon, and please tell us how you get on.

It's always good to hear that people are managing nicely, as well as being here for them when they're really suffering!

Yep I agree too. I have shooting stabbing searing pains in my joints but also in the abdomen in fact random "voodoo doll" syndrome! Sometimes its so painful it makes you take a sharp breath in, it makes me cry out sometimes. I have been dx with osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia, I also have diabetes, but I don't think the pain is from diabetes.

Anyway I would suggest you see your doctor explain exactly what is happening - he is the best one to help
