Hi

My husband and I came across this when booking theatre tickets, and after looking around he thinks it's something carehomes, groups use when making bookings etc aas some form of proof, but as said he thinks so it may not be.

Hi All

I have a disabled card issued in Hampshire. I do not know if other counties do them. If you check with your county council they should point you in the right direction.

I have has mine for years going back to when I had a green card for work, it was supposed to help with your employer with their disabled quota but all it did was make the prospective employers say 'oh your disabled' and that was the end of that job.

Check with your local council as ours do one that can give discount on things like the cinema when shown.

Kindest regards

Terry

my disabled bus pass is usually accepted as proof.

Hi,

I went to "Metro Arena" (in Newcastle), with my friends to book "Walking With Dinosaurs" I then asked for a disabled box, and the didn't ask for any ID, though I think they understood that I was disabled as I had to ask them to repeat themselves as I am heading impaired/deaf.

Iv tried to get a disabled card but failed I have been told I should be on high rated on DLA, but failed I asked for a form as I said my circumstances had changed, as when I have a flare up I can hardly more. I told them my legs give way and I use crutches when I'm in chronic pain and I still got refused I'm on low care and low mobility. Iv been told to appeal but I don't want to risk it incase they take it off me :(

If you do appeal email info@fibroaction.org for the benefits & work info. the booklet goes through each question. there is also a useful sheet to print off and fill in which you copy and give to your gp and consultants - ask them to use it to write you a letter of support and send it to you for your claim pack [copy them first]. they can use the info that you have put on the form to answer the dla questions.

Check your DLA letter and see why they made that decision (I think you'll find it on Page 2 of the letter) as you may find that they haven't even bothered to contact your Doctor and/or Consultant for a report to support your claim of change of circumstance. For the mobility part you have to emphasise that the physical act of walking is causing you severe pain/ discomfort or is increasing your severe pain/discomfort because, as I found out, just telling them that you are in pain all the time doesn't cover you for High Rate Mobility.

Disabled cards are issued by local councils. As Tettridge says, Hampshire issue them as I live in this county too. They are issued free and entitle you to certain benefits and concessions and in certain instances you may be able to reclaim VAT on specific disability equipment.

It would be worth contacting your local county councils to enquire about this if you are interested.

A lot of county councils have stopped using registering disabled and cards, etc. Felt it was in contravene disability rights. Warwickshire don't do them but I do know Hampshire and parts of Devon still do. If you have a blue badge, try to get a bus pass. This may help access to facilities.

thanks for kind reply take care all

In Brighton you just need to be on Higher Mobility DLA to get a bus pass.
