Okay, I have been Rollerised.
The venue was lovely - a small arts theatre in Solihull. I hadn't got a ticket so asked at the box office, I was offered centre row C ... then noticed on the computer screen that the side seats on the front row hadn't been sold; so I got a front row seat - carefully picked to be on the side of Si Mulvey the Bass Player who I have known "off stage" for several years.
Les was looking really well, he has lost a lot of weight but has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so is a bit miffed at having to give up sweeties.
They sang all the old hits as well as loads of album tracks - some of which I'd not heard in years ... but they all come flooding back.
The stage was really low, so Les came wondering along into the audience and said he was going to sit on the edge ofthe stage and would anyone like to sit next to him or at his feet. I didn't need asking twice! And sat at his feet. He sang a lovely old album track called "Youre a Lady".
It was lovely, and at the end those of us who had been sitting with him each gave him a kiss .... yes I'll repeat that I KISSED LES MCKEOWN. Now who would have imagined that in 1975?
I had a few chats with Si's lovely Fiancee Suzie and had a hug off him too.
If you have a chance to go and see "The Bay City Rollers Story" (as the tour is known) then take it as it is just wonderful and such good fun, I got up and danced a fair bit too ... I'm still on a high
