Hi does anyone else suffer from sweats with Fibro, mine is always in the morning as soon as I exert myself, and last anywhere up to 1 hour! My hair drips, its awful and embarrassing if out, thanks
Sweats: Hi does anyone else suffer from... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Sweats
Mine does too but the dr has done bloods and yay its the menopause i am going though theyhave given me some tablets to help with the sweats
I often get hot flushes that leave me with sweat running down my face - I'm 3 years into the menopause now so put them down to that.
I've had night sweats for years now, I normally sleep in pyjamas and with no duvet or anything on me, even on the coldest night my 4.5tog duvet is plenty and my feet are uncovered!

Always have hot flushes, in the morning my side of the bed is soaking. How many other men have hot flushes?
Thanks for your answers, I will get my bloods checked again at docs xx
Grimbo - perhaps you are in touch with your femine side lol
Well I guess you have proven that fibro is sweaty and not all menopausal ... I blame lots on the menopause myself, maybe I shouldn't?

yes i do but i am 56 so could be menopause x
Yep! I have them often, soaked to the very skin even my hair gets wet, yukky!!! Since been on the Gabapentin they have decreased thankfully! xxx
Oh yes I do get this and it is one of the things that really gets me down. I could tell the difference between a fibro sweat and a menopausal sweat when they were happening too. The menopausal one would have me feeling the heat rise up from my feet and feel like my whole body was burning and I would sweat but the fibro sweat starts at my head and I just drip with it. My hair is soaking wet when it happens and so is my back and neck and front. My skin is cold and clammy too touch. I get it whenever I get the least bit stressed, or when I am trying to make myself look nice when I am going to go out somewhere like a special event or an appointment and it makes my make-up just come straight off. I end up taking out a towel or loads of tissues with me to mop myself up and have started to fan myself now to try and slow it down. It is so embarrassing and also I end up with a sore neck because of it irritating me. I wasn't certain when the menopause is actually classed as finished and have just found out it was about 4 years ago or more for me as it is when you have not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. Yippeeeeeeee I am definitely over it then lol. No wonder all my sweats have only been from the fibro description for a long time lol. I get more nutty and stupid by the day with this damn illness lol xxxx
Hi, my sweats are on a morning when I first exert myself!! its awful as like you say Suzyindahouse I spend precious energy and time doing my hair and then its gets so wet, it looks like nothing, which when you feel you look awful anyway, and have put on stones in weight, the only thing I can do to look nice is my hair!!! I am on 3600mg of Gabapentin a day and getting fatter by the day!! so maybe the weight doesnt help with the sweats either, so I am joining Weight Watchers tomorrow night, not sure if I am in the right frame of mind but have got to try, I am off work at the minute and going to discus other pain relief options with her this week, thanks for all your answers xx
I have loads of trouble with sweats. I hate it, I'm 33 so shouldn't be menopausal. Like you said you spend ages doing your hair and make up and within minutes your hair looks like you have just got out of the shower and you feel like your make up has evaporated. I have to wear waterproof mascara and I always use a primer before foundation, which seems to help. I am on 2700 mg of Gabapentin, and other med's too which all list sweats as side effects as well as the fibro sweats. Really depressing. I hate the summer and i dread it every year. I also have gained weight since being put on Gabapentin.
They are really horrid. I always used to wear makeup and do my hair but it's a complete waste of time now. Makes me feel dirty and ugly.
I too suffer with hot flushes/sweats. I'm 65 and been through menopause so I know it's not that. So embarrassing as you say especially when out and with people. Oh the joys of Fibro!!!
I suffer really badly with sweats, so much that I have to change my clothes ... I literally drip from head to toe, this are not menopausal, I think it's a combination of my fibro with the medication I'm on for it.
Not nice, but I think I've come to the conculsion, it's just something else to put up with.
fun, fun, fun NNOT!!
hi,get blood tests ,i have fibro and RA sweating like a pig..turns out my thyroid is underactive....still get sweats but sometimes things get undiagnosed coz we put most things down to fibro xxx
I find that I get sweats from Fibro pain, don't have to exert myself much for it to happen, it can be embarrassing when with others (particularly in meetings lol). Like others have said it is different to the sweats of hot flush, which thankfully I have had only mildly throughout the start of menopause (I am 51).
Hi. If anyone thinks it is their meds, they should consider if the benefits are worth the side effects. I don't take what the doctor says just because they say so. Has anyone considered that they may Hyperhidros? Excess sweating. I take Pr-Banthine. Cheers Keith.
