Hi Diddle

Have you coughed or sneezed? That sometimes can pull muscles. I alway wake up in the morning with my chest and ribs hurting. Once I get up I am not too bad. You may have tensed you in your sleep without realising it. I hope it gets better soon x

Hugs to all xxx

Sounds a bit like Pleurisy does it hurt when you sit still and just move a little?

May need a visit to GP, I have had it it is very painful :(

Owch! How long did the pleuracy last? My StepDad thought he had pleurac a few years ago, as he had it when it was younger, and recognised the symptoms - then when he saw the doc, he was told it was a muscle spasm. They must feel very similar.

Pleurisy does feel like a pulled muscle with anti biotics can go away in a week.

I get this, but I also get the muscles jumping as well, if it carries on I should get it checked out, you never know it could be something different.

I get this all the time, it also affects my side muscles, and can get so painful as though you've done a thousand sit-ups or something. Usually this happens for no reason, and I accept it as part of my Fibro, and it last for maybe a day or two and then goes. On the brighter side, I know that under the layer of fat on my belly, I have a beautiful set of six packs just waiting to get out!!!!

Sharolina xx

Fibro can attack the muscle fibres between your ribs. I had a dose of it earlier in the year. It's not nice. The diaphragm is also a muscle that can be affected. I was soaking in magnesium baths to try and calm it down x hope you feel better soon. Stretching the muscles out can help but that depends on how painful it is x

The time I get this is when I get into bed, which I have to climb in because its so bloody high),and when I lean back on my pillows and let my stomach relax the muscles on my right side, just under my ribs go into spasm and feels like a hard sausage! I just lie there massaging it but it hurts even to touch. Sometimes I jump out of bed and stand up massaging it until it relaxes. It's very painful when it happens, but fortunately, doesn't last long like all my other pains. Not nice though.

Muscle spasms are rubbish, get them too! I have sports massage and she really kneads around the ribs at the back to loosen up all the small muscles I never even thought I had (it all feels like one great big muscle when it hurts!

Hope yo feel better soon XG

Hi as I am relitively new to this site I am finding out that most of the things that ail me are "normal" things that happen to people with fibro . Not having spoken to anyone with it before I found this forum. I am so sorry you are suffering today but in a strange way this thread has answered a lot for me. I kept thinking all this cannot be my fibro surely.....

I am sending you very gentle hugs ,and hope that it soon eases for you .....thank you so much for sharing this as it will be helping so many of us x x x ((((((((((HUGS)))))))) gently x x

Some of these things will be the fibro, but keep in mind, that a lot of people with fibro have things that can be classed as a seperate illness or condition that can be treated as a seperate entity without the tag of fibro. Irratable bowel, for instance, can also occur in people without fibro, and is treatable with over the counter or prescribed drugs. Don't ever think that because it occurs with the fibro it will be difficult to manage and (like a lot of doctor think) uncurable. Fibro, if anything amplifies a lot of conditions that people with out fibro would be able to get routinely treated and controlled. Fibro makes it more difficult to find the right balance - but you can get there, don't give up and keep yourself informed. I'm glad you found this forum at last - its awful to suffer in silence, and I've got lot of help from the wonderful people who post here.

Hi babes. As you have read, it could be a number of things going on. I pulled my stomach muscle last year when I tried to eat a dinner my sister cooked for me. I did not know wht was going on until my doctor checked me over. I had pulled my back after ironing (just a little) and thought I had appendix as had problems with them years back.

Since then it seems to pull for no reason at all. If it is , the best I have found is to get some support over it if you really have to do a lot of activity or it soon gets excrutiating. Big hugs for rapid healing xx

Docs are very good at saying , this, aren't they. If it gets any worse, don't dismiss it as just Fibro - go back and have it checked out.
