Does anyone know a good pain relief ? I take 100mg Tramadol, 100mg Doclofenic and 200mg Amitriptyline nightly but get no real relief ... Does anyone know of anything else that works ? It is really getting me down and getting harder to get up for work every day :(

Hello Angie! I was on all the meds you are taking at the moment and didn't find much relief from the Tramadol and Diclofenac. It would be advisable to speak to your GP about your lack of relief and ask if you could be prescribed different pain relief and explain why.

The Amitriptyline tends to be prescribed as a muscle relaxant and also an aid to relax thereby promoting sleep. It might be best to stay on this medication and just change your pain relief. But this of course is up to your Doctor. See what they say, they will know what would work best for you.

It's always worth mentioning to your Doctor if your pain relief isn't working because there are so many different meds to try to get the right combination of relief for all our symptoms.

You could suggest trying Solpadol which is the same as Co-codamol. I take this and it works much better than Tramadol did for me. Of course you would have to be careful as the tablets contain Codeine which is an opiate and addictive. Solpadol/Co-codamol also contains Paracetamol. :)

Hi Angie

I am taking all the meds you mention but I have pregablin as well and that does help. Never pain free of course but definitely know the Pregablin helps. Really hope you get sorted.

take care Sue xx

Me too Angie - made me very unwell but that and gabapentin seemed to be the only thing the pain consultant i was under at the time, seemed to think right for help with fibro. I hope that your visit to the Dr manages to come up with something - I have ended up on MST but i'm not happy with it really and would dearly love to get on to something other than an opiate.

Take care and good luck Dottii x

So sorry for the delay in responding - having fibro fog moments (well days really) hey ho.... MST is sustained release morphine I take 40mg a.m. and p.m. as a normal dose but can increase it when things get really bad, but I like to try to get back to my "maintenance level" as quickly as possible. I also have Oramorph to hand as my back goes into spasm quite frequently. What I would really like is to dispense with all opiates but am not sure that's going to happen any time now, as like you, I am 100mg tramadol (but can take more if needed - but tend to try not to)! I take 100mg of amitriptyline to help with sleep - does 200mg make you feel fuzzy headed in the morning? Perhaps you could take tramadol in the morning as well - apparently it can be taken four times a day - not that i've done that as I'm not sure i'd be able to remain upright .

take great care of yourself Dottii

Taking 200mg doesnt leave me fuzzy headed but doesnt really help me sleep any better either ... I do take Tramadol and Diclofenac during the day but still have the pain and spasms :( Seems there is no hope for me ... waiting for Pain clinic to get in touch with me I was referred about 1mth ago
