pain relief advice

Hi there everyone

I’m hoping some of you may be able to help by letting me know if you’ve found anything like meds or otherwise that helps with the pain we all feel everyday? I’m currently on Pregabalin (quiet a low dose so I’m told but this will be increased gradually) but not feeling any relief with this yet…any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Hi, I find a magnesium spray help with the pain in my lower legs, I usually use it once a day after showering, sometimes I need to use it twice a day but not very often. I take 50mg Amitriptyline at night, that helps me sleep and does take the edge off the pain. I also use a weighted blanket which really helps with my sleep. Hope you find something that will help with your pain. 🙂

Thank you for your advice, I will look into the spray and possibly the blanket…may I ask do you get the pains going down your arms into your hands and pins and needles? I don’t know about anyone else but I’m getting pain that seems to move around all over my body constantly. 🙄🙄 I initially thought the consultant was wrong as I felt like the pain was coming from all my joints and I’d never heard of FM before he diagnosed it…I’ve been having this pain which has gotten worse for a good few years now but only recently have they said the above.

I'd just like to say that the spray and/or the blanket doesn't work for everyone - it's a case of trial and error for us all. I don't get pins and needles, but I do get odd sensations in my arms, hands, legs and feet, it feels as though there is something moving inside them, this isn't constant, but it's a very odd feeling when I do get it. And yes, I mostly get pains in my lower legs, but Fibro pain can rear its ugly head just about anywhere in my body! I do hope that you manage to find something that works for you.

Hi 1whitestar

How do you manage with the pain, I’m struggling…I have two children so have to take the pain killers around needing to be there for them when I need to drive for instance…I need to be aware and not flying so I need to deal with the pain even more so. 🥺. Does your doctor plan to try other things if your still suffering even with all the meds you take?

Hi @Gab22 - it may take some time to see if Pregabalin may help you (as the dosage is gradually increased). Please see: cochrane.org/CD011790/SYMPT...

Hoping it helps in the weeks to come.

It does this by increasing the production of ATP, the fuel our cells use for energy, as well as increasing the permeability of cell membranes, which allows waste products to be removed and nutrition and oxygen to be absorbed into the cells more efficiently. It also increases the production of endorphins, the body’s own painkillers. Green light therapy has also been shown to be helpful for migraines and fibromyalgia. Inexpensive devices for home use are now available, as well as more powerful clinical devices.

For pharma it looks Low-dose naltrexone is one of the most effective treatments for severe pain but is not widely available.

Hi there,

I use a magnesium gel as I find the spray too oily. I've taken Amitriptyline for years and would not be without it.

All the best.

My pains were mainly my legs but are now everywhere which was affecting my sleep. I tried cbd spray too but no effect. Hope you find some relief soon x
