I've lost 1/2 stone in the past 3 weeks due to not daring to eat more than a half side-plate a day because I fall asleep about 20mins after. I've even fallen asleep at the wheel of the car after eating a choccy bar! The only thing I can do is a half sandwich now and again which keeps me going.

Anyone Else fall asleep 2omins after any food,no matter the amount?
Yes I get shivering cold and sleep but doesn't stop me ratting and no danger. I have a thyroid condition so thought this was reason. You see your doctor as could be "dumping syndrome"
Have you been checked for Diabetes as I have just gone through a really horrible week and thought Fibro back in force but turned out my blood sugars had gone really high. It is quite common to fall asleep after eating if blood sugars are high
Hi cerin,
That's interesting. I started the Dukan diet a couple of weeks ago. It's based mainly of eating lots of protein and certain veggies, very low fat and no carbohydrates, for the first 10 weeks or so. I have so much more energy.
However, I have had a couple of naughty days where I have eaten carbohydrates, a bag of chocolate raisins on one of them and I just couldn't stay awake after any of them. So it's interesting that chocolate did it to you.
I think it is unlikely to be dumping syndrome as that is a condition usually suffered by people who have had surgery to remove part/most of their stomach removed through surgery. Unless of course you have.
My advice as always is to get it checked out by your GP, ask for your bloods to be done, including a fasting blood sugar. If everything comes back normal then maybe cutting back on carbs a bit might help.
You really need to eat more than once a day too.
happy hugs, kate
Hello cerin
Sorry this answer is late & I hope you have your problem sorted now or at least know why your falling asleep 20 minutes after eating, my Husband does the exact thing no matter what or how much he eats, after me moaning a lot for him to see our Dr, he finally did a few months ago & some blood tests it's turned out he has Diabetes type 2, that is what is causing it for him, if you haven't already please go see your Dr & get this checked out.
Regards J
