Sadly, my rheumatologist said he can help with the pain side of Fibro but can't help with the tiredness - so I take iron and magnesium supplements, both are supposed to help...............I've noticed a difference cutting out wheat and dairy, did the Carol Vorderman detox diet and I'm sure it helped...it's quite strict but oyu only follow it for 28 days at a time. xx

Hi littejan

I am so sorry to read that you are having this problem, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I am normally the opposite of this, and I find it really difficult to get any sleep and I survive on just a few hours a night.

At the moment I am suffering chronic fatigue and I keep nodding off for an hour or so and then I start to feel quite confused. I am having tests for this but not had any results back yet.

I think sadly what you are experiencing is the effects of Fibro, however, there are medications that you could discuss with your GP? One of the medications is called 'Symettrel' and it is specifically an anti-fatigue medication that will help stop you falling asleep in this way. If you have a sympathetic GP it may well be worth talking to them about this?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x

TheAuthor, thanks for your reply been to docs and he's just put me on yet again anti depressants, I havnt gone on them yet because it says about having vivid dreams that never goes away, which puts me off. He said that's all he can give me, anti depressants that is.

I am so sorry that they will only give you antidepressants, as in my experience, all they achieve is making you sleep all the more? Not really the answer you want at this time!

Hi

I've also been falling asleep at work I've lost quite a few hours this week. Luckily no-one has noticed and even going out for fresh air doesn't help. I've put it down to the Fibro and possibly all my medication. I'm an newly diagnosed and haven't had any help from GP or hospital.

Hi I get extreme fatigue with Fibro, I am looking after my two children at the moment as I want them to have the same start in life I had. It is extremely tiring and I do find myself struggling to stay awake which scares me. Generally I have someone around to help just incase but there's always sometime I'm on my own with them and you can be sure that's when the fatigue takes hold. Xx

Hi, I would also ask your doctor to check for Sleep Apnoea.

I was just like you and was diagnosed with Sleep Apnoea. Although it has not help my sleep patterns, and bouts of insomnia, I have not fallen alseep unexpectedly or unknowingly for the past year, and do not fell as fatigued now.

Or Narcolepsy. Though fatigue will also produce those symptoms. Methinks a visit to the physician is in order, then rattle cages, what he's already done is clearly no help.

You just have to pace yourself. It's just part of the fibromyalgia that we all know and have little choice but to deal with. Hope you have better days sweetheart!!! xxx Mitzi

I had to quit working eventually. If you can adjust your budget, maybe you could cut your hours back. I found the everyday stress of social interaction became harder on me rather than helpful, hardly worth mentioning that the work was physically too much. I do wish I could work again for the sens of accomplishment and the social contact I could enjoy, but I do other things to compensate.

I've taken anti-depressants that worked just the opposite of what Ken relates, making me too hyper and unable to sleep, but everyone responds differently no matter what doctors may think.

I am sorry this is happening to you and I hope you find a quick resolution.
