Had to chuckle at a piece I read today in the local paper.
A large Coffee house has set up an academy to give apprenticeships to young people to help them learn to make coffee !
I remember when apprenticeships were given to teach youngsters engineering , car manufacture etc !
Don't know why but it tickled my funny bone lol.
Hopefully there will be jobs for the young people at the end of the apprenticeships........ if not they can come to mine and show me how to use the cappuccino machine that's still in it's box !

My son wants to do an apprenticeship in welding and fabricating but he needs 4 GCSE'S A-C which he hasnt got! What chance do the purely practical kids stand not a hope xx
That's just daft ! What's the connection between being able to sit an exam and being able to weld ?
Not everyone is good in an exam room, doesn't mean they aren't brilliant in more hands -on, practical things .

Yes that's what it said Susie . I think it's good in some ways that there are companies still taking on young people to train, but it's a sign of the times .
You only have to look at the high streets and town centres now to see how many large chain coffee shops there are .
Just a pity our industries are doing so well I think.
