try and elivate your legs about a foot in the air with cushions , my hubbie suffers restless legs and it helps him alot . hugs xx
good nght ,hope you get some rest xx
I get this quite a lot, even keeps me up at night, spent many hours down here playing Mahjong on comp. All my GP offered me was Quinine Tablets and I really do not want to take any more tablets. I have tried many different things to get rid of nothing appears to help, I did though find rubbing warmed up baby oil seemed to help a bit, I suppose it makes the blood move around more.
I am on Quinine for my cramping and for the pain I take just Paracetamol and I have eliminated the cramp that used to wake me up at night, and the pain hasn't gone but has been numbed. You should give them a go I am 300mg tabs the best thing I have had. Good luck hope this will help. xx
Hi there, you have my sympathy, restless legs are so annoying and always worse when you are in desperate need of sleep!! I am currently taking a Vitamin B12 suspension from my local heathfood/herbal alternatives shop,i can honestly say that the restless leg syndrome doesn't seem as prevalent, i know not everything works for everyone, maybe you could ask your G/P. Some gentle stretching exercises help loosen those tired, knotted muscles and a nice warm bubble bath just before bedtime is great! Hugs xx
There are two drugs licensed for restless legs in the uk, Roprinol and Pramipexole. I suffered with restless legs for years and never slept but once I started taking Pramipexole it keeps them under control. They do make you drowsy but hey sleep is so important. Now I don't sleep cos of fibro but at least the legs aren't jumping.
Hope you have a good night

I end up walking barefoot on the concrete in the garden when mine get bad, doing stretches & elevating my legs helps as well. I did find cutting back on tea & coffee helped eleviate it a bit.
xx
Hi Jax
I know how you feel, I've suffered with RLS since I was 15 and it's only 2 yrs ago when drs started taking me seriously.
I tried magnesium tablets from a healthfood shop, quinine, and zoplicone but none of those helped. I'm now on pramipexole and I have no RLS (though i may just be on a break...as it comes and goes) although my legs are aching....still better than the RLS!!
I used to go for a slow short walk before bed and drink valerian tea which helped with getting off to sleep...but was also waking up with it, which was a bit harder to deal with hence the meds.
As sparkledust says, cut back on the caffeine, alcohol, sugar and nicotine and that might help too.
Hope you get a good night's sleep soon xx hugs
Thanks everyone, sleep wasn't too bad. The problem is I drive my hubby crazy because I have to keep my legs on the move so I'm always twitching about. I have to have vit b12 injections as I have pernicious anemia, so I'm afraid that tip wont work. I have also started the magnesium recently so I will wait and see on that one. I will keep all your other tips in mind..thanks.
To be honest my legs feel like that most of the time day and night but just every now and then they have a flair .
Hope your all well today
