I am the awkward one I get restless arms ... Some nights I lie in bed shadow boxing fortunately I have great night meds and they zap me out so I get sleep so I have no idea if I am still wrestling with my arms.... I have no idea if it works but some people on here say a bar of soap in the bed helps.... As long as you don't tell anyone you have shoved a bar of soap down the bed you won't look silly trying it.....

Hopefully someone will be able to answer with an alternative if you don't fancy that

Yup people have said it on here ... One of those inexplicable things that seem to help some people ... Also saves washing when you get up in the morning :)

I believe Amitriptyline has the same effect as Gaba. I take both and am not as bad as I was, but am still not cured. It also depends how active I've been during the day.

Soap works sammicat lol. No idea why ! Not sure about restless arms though. I have a cloud pillow to stop my arms going dead. It keeps my neck in the right position so as to not aggregate cervical spondylosis.

I too get restless legs and occasionally restless arms, I take Amitriptyline, have not tried the soap yet. I would love any ideas to help restless legs when traveling...5 hours on a train followed by an 8 hour flight to visit my grandchildren can be torture!

Hello - Just wondering if you take any codeine or opiate type medication during the day I was getting restless legs at night and finally realized it was from taking codeine in the morning and by night I was having withdrawal symptoms. I didn't take pain relief in the afternoon as my pain had improved and I didn't feel the need to take pain meds then.

Just a thought. Best wishes, Nic

thank you all for this thread and thanks to jan for starting it. i thought i was going mad. i dont get restless legs i get a restless arm. just the one. my left. i sometimes wish i could have it taken off [though obviously i am aware that was nutts] i take my codiene at night so it cant be a withdrawal. i can only get relief if i take diazepam along with my usual cocktail of drugs for bed time... i will try magnesium. i am already on amitriptyline and i will discuss this ropinirole with my doc. thank you.
