I have been getting the flu jab for 4 years now and about a week to 2 weeks after I get struck down with horrible flu and want to curl up and die! Doctors said it has nothing to do with the flu jab but this has happened to me 4 years in a row. Has anyone else had the same?

Flu jab
Hi, I've been administering the flu jab for a few years, and it is true that the vaccine cannot cause you to have flu. It can cause some side effects and one includes fever - but this should pass in a few days. Usually, it takes 2-3 weeks to build up your antibodies to protect you against the flu virus. It is often that during the time you are building your immunity you come into to contact with the bugs or have done already - and you develop the symptoms of a cold or flu. People I have given the jab sometimes say they get a cold afterwards, but many more have no problems at all. I think it is a combination of coincidence and vulnerability. Try and get the flu jab as early as you can. Sept/Oct would be best. Hope this is helpful. sparkles and hugs x Suzy
Hi Suzy, gentle hugs,
I just had to put this to you about my experience.
i used to have a GP practice that was superb - I was always offered - and accepted - the flu jab because of my Fibro and PTSD as they are classes as Chronic illnesses and jabs are given for such illnesses - However - I then moved to my present home 3 years and the practice I'm with - (not many in my area) - have refused every time I've asked for a jab - saying I was NOT entitled to one. And for those 3 years I've been severely hit by the flu - that on top of the Fibro - had each bout last over 6 weeks plus or more from start to finish leaving me absolute wiped out and suicidal - yet STILL they say I'm not allowed a jab - is this fair - are they really not able to allow me the jabs? - None of them seem to even give a monkeys for fibromites!HELP!

HI i have had the flu jab for 10 years now and i have never been ill with any of them, i am proberbly a lucky one.
hugs, kel xxxx
I have the flu jab each year and no problems at all. Any concerns though, I would speak to your GP. X x
I have always had the flu jab, I work in the NHS and although not 'front line' any more, our Occ Health service recognises the benefit of my having the jab.
The one year I missed it was the year I got swine flu..... I would not wish it on my worst enemy!
I 'lost' 4 days of my life,
I was only waking up when the hubby roused me to force me to drink.
At the time I felt SO poorly that I actually prayed for release from this life and my suffering.
So I would say keep having the jab, no side effects that you might get could possibly be as bad as the real thing.
hi i havent had it as never had flu jab but my parents have it every year and within a few weeks of having it they normally get the most horrndous cold and basically feels like they have flu so i dont know if this happens to everyone , love to you diddle x
Im entitled to the flu jab and got it every year. Every year the day after and 2 weeks later I would be sniffling running a high temp and stiff and sore(dont think it was as bad as what you had Gailbt. Last year I didnt get it ( I was travelling to a wedding the day of the clinic) and I never got a cold , maybe a slight sniffle which disappeared with upping the vitiman C intake.
If anything was to happen like the swine flu epidemic that happened a few years ago, I would get the jab again. The benefits outweigh the risks. X
