Does anyone suffer from a 'beer belly' due to lack of exercise because of Fibro?

I have thin arms and legs but because my mobility is very impaired I have grown a 'beer belly' - even though I don't drink. Has anyone come across any diets/exercises that actually work and can be done by someone with restricted mobility?

Hi. I have started at Gymaphobics in town, with my doctors blessing. It is a 30 min work out but every piece of equipment is air resistance rather than weights. You are only on each piece for less than 3 mins and each exercise is gentle and helps stretch muscles gently which helps you loose weight rather than build up huge muscles. Google them as they are all over the country. I gained loads of weight after my back op and then finding I had fibro. They are brilliant and so understanding. Good luck xxx

Ive got a tum i just dont find it easy to loose weight but we are all different sizes .. check with the doctor but books say exersise helps ... try the diation at the doctors and phyisio x gentle dyslexic hugs

Until my diagnosis Sandy, I was super fit as I was into keep fit. But once the Fibro got a grip all exercising ground to a halt and weight piled onto my tummy - the rest of my body is still normal sized but my tummy looks as though I'm 2 years pregnant with an elephant! These days any exercise is agony. Fibro is a miserable old git ehh?

Gentle Hugs, x

Yep, I have the same problem. For the last 5 months I have been attending "Fit 4 Life" gentle exercise classes - it's exercise on referral from your GP.

It's done me a world of good. People are saying I look more toned etc( Me with my non-beer belly!) but boy do I pay for it with a flare-up after every session.

There are people there with all sorts of health problems and everyone goes at their own pace. There are people who can run a bit and some who can barely walk. Many of the exercises are done sitting down.

But if this is "gentle exercise", I'd hate to think what "not-so-gentle exercise" may be like.

I was apprehensive at first, but really enjoy it now, despite the pain and inevitable flare-ups. I must be a glutton for punishment! :D

Thank you everybody for your replies. I am sorry that I have not replied earlier but for some reason I am not receiving updates to my 'inbox' and so I have to try and remember to visit this site - with my fibro fog I am lucky if I can remember my name at times!

Thanks again

Sx
