This last two years all I seem to do is keep putting food in my mouth - it is all tasteless. Have suffered for many many years but this is the first time that I have had this problem. Yes many say its comfort eating but why now - have had worse times in my life Have gone up two sizes feel like a hippo yet cannot stop

I'm not sure how old you are..or wether you're male or female. I'm gonna opt for female, so if I'm wrong, apologies. Have you had your hormones checked? I started with terrible hot flushes and thought at the time that it was a new symptom of the fybro..yet they got worse and I felt terrible. I asked my doc to check my hormones and when they did was told that I was now in full blown menopause. ( at 45!) been in it now for just over 3 years and have not taken any help for it. ( HRT - is not good..imho) I just suffer. Thing is..when the hormones change ( and they do often in menopause) it make my fybro so much worse. yeah, I want to eat the world and the sweats are just utterly horrible ( I have strategically placed desk fans all over the house! lol ) I'm lucky that I never really suffered with PMT so I'ev only had about 2 really bad mood swings in the 3 years. If you are, by chance a male..it's always worth talking to your doc/specialist and asking if you could have your hormones checked..as more and more research is showing that hormones..or imbalance of homeones plays quite a significant part in Fybro. Good luck. *gentle hugs*

I do this quite a lot and it is ok when you are active but otherwise bad, bad, bad!! it may be part of depression. i have actually been better since my heart problem started as i had to give up smoking, alcohol, chocolate, cocola and other stimulants all at once! none of this is like me at all as i have the worse will power ever. still overweight though lol. good luck with this i do hope you can find things to eat that do you less harm. If it helps, i eat 5 tiny meals a day! (i am not an organised person either) and i dont mean sandwiches as bread is out too (except wheat and gluten free)

It can be medications. Amitriptyline for instance can cause bad sweet cravings.

I know SO many on Amitriptyline. I used to take it years ago. Went from 10mg to over 100mg in the space of a year! Yet talking to my pain specialist, he reckons it's actually useless....and I fully agree. All it did was make me gain a ton of weight....just sayin'.......

Oh sorry you feel so low and down on yourself, but come on now lets get you to think positive, the warm weather is jus around the corner well they say it is ! so get up today and this can be your 1st day of healthy eating , go to your cuboard and get rid of all the bad things in there and go and buy all healthy thing. if you want to eat while at home make sure it is a piece of sweet fruit or something, another good thing is buy some yogurts and freeze them and in the evening eat it like you would an ice cream it lasts ages and not as fattening as ice cream and hopefully you will see some results and then you feeel happier in yousr self , you take care now and let this day be your new start love to you Diddle x

Thanks one and all for your immediate responses. Will attempt to respond to different questions. Yep I am female - Age 70. Was diagnosed many years ago. At the timepain had been going some years with back problems then this specialist arrived in Thanet, UK. He was the first here to diagnose fibro. So as you can imagine at that time none of the doctors would recognise this illness or accept it. Thankfully things have progressed in this field i.e.Chronic pain clinic. Unfortunately, the waiting lists are so long. Due to long term and aging process [how much the age comes into it - do not know] mind is young. Thing is I BUY MOSTLY THE CORRECT FOOD THEN CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO COOK IT FINISH UP SANDWICHES - CAKES - CHOC. Naughty. .Really I do know bread is my failing what goes in it is healthy - salad always around. Hey Ho it should not be long now befor I get report from specialist. then will start feeling more confident with what treatment is needed instead of try this try that arghhh. To be sure for all of us we have a never ending experience each day or weeks or months are different. Mo.x
