Hi thanks for signing me up. I've had fibromyalgia since 2010, currently taking Tramadol but looking to change to something non-opioid. Considering Nefopam as I've had bad reactions with Gabapentin, Pregabalin and Amytriptaline.

Hi and welcome to our forum, I'm sure you will find lots of help and tips on here. And answers to any questions you may have. Sorry can't help you regarding the meds as I take Amitriptyline and find it's good and I don't get any side effects. I did take Gapapentin for a while but it did nothing for me.

Hope you have a lovely day, with little pain.

Just wanted to say hello too. I cannot comment much on the meds side either, as I take amitriptyline for the fibromyalgia pains too. Hope you will ensure your gp helps you reduce and stop the tramadol in a manner that is best for you. I know some meds need careful weaning off.Wishing you well going down a different route.

Hi, All I can tell you is that I take amitriptyline 40 mgs at night for secondary fibro. It is my understanding that Nefopam is not actually a pain killer but a drug that makes pain killers more effective. Hope that this info. helps.

Hi BlueHippopotomous, Welcome to the group. Here, you'll find support, information, and advice and, at times, requests to join or complete surveys.

You've given a brief background on your medication as well as the current status of what you take for your pain. There's no information of your pain symptoms, flare-ups, or what you do when you feel a flare-up coming on... where I live, we call that a rescue package.

I'm unsure how we can help as you've not stated how effective the Tramadol is, nor why you want to stop using it. I'm assuming you want something more natural.

Like probably everyone here, I, too, take Amitriptyline for my fibromyalgia pain, and it helps me to sleep with less pain, too. In addition, I take Zomorph and Gabapentin as I have 2 forms of arthritis and other illnesses.

You need to ask your Gp to refer you to your local Pain Clinic, who will discuss options and monitor your usage and side effects. You can also discuss having steroid injections for your pain with your Gp.

Please be careful with the Tramadol as you're not supposed to use it if you have any bowel issues or problems.

Please let us know how you get on. I hope we have enabled you to see other options available to you. All the best 😍

Hi Blue Hippopotomus

I have taken Gabapentin for a couple of years now with no side effects. I tried Amitriptyline and it caused urine retention so came off it after six days. Hope you have more luck with Nefropam. I tried that for another condition which helped the pain but my stomach won't except painkillers.

Hi BlueHippopotomus, I am not familiar with Nefropam. I was going to ask is it a NSAID? If so be careful because I was on Celebrex for several years then my doctor checked my kidney function which was at 42. She said to stop taking the celebrex which brought it to 48. After stopping my weekly glass of ice tea, Sunday morning cup of coffee, stopped the occasional swallow or two of sodas, and increasing my water intake it finally came up to 64 after 2 and a half years. Then I did an ultimate wellness program through a wholistic doctor. It involved healing the gut, switching to free range chicken, grass fed beef, wild caught fish, wild game and organic vegetables and fruit. Mindfulness exercises, lots of supplements, detox, etc which I lost over 50lbs. This brought my kidney function up to 78. I then thought I could drink a half a cup of coffee every other Sunday but it knocked my kidney function down to 54. So gave it up and the last check had come up to 64….it may have been 64 and 74? It had come up 10 points from the previous check. I do take amitriptyline, gabapentin and tramadol for fibromyalgia, neuropathy and arthritis (aka bone spurs, bad hip scheduled for hip replacement in May) oh also Cymbalta for pain. I just wanted to say be careful about using NSAIDS for prolonged periods of time. I really haven’t had any side effects from the tramadol. I have a higher tolerance to most medications. There are some that I just can’t take because it knocks me out or for instance ambien ER 12.5mg it doesn’t clear my system by morning and I am in a MAJOR FOG throughout the next day. The regular ambien is out my system the next morning.

Hi

For now the best medication I've been is:

Gabapentin, amitriptyline, mitarzapine with Zapain and Naproxen for the fibromyalgia.

But for some pain by luck i found out that Brufen 600 mg help me much better

All the best to you

Could I ask what Brufen 600mg is please.

I have fibromyalgia and m.e with chronic migraines and early menapause.

I can't seem to get myself back on track at the moment and I'm at the phase I just need and want to sleep. I'm sure many will understand that. The brain fog has been awful lately. I'm on Amitripttline 30mg and venlafaxine 300mg along woth botox for the chronic. Migraines

I sure do sympathise with you all gentle hugs x

Hi just read your post, I think I've tried everything offered but have only been able to settle on Gabapentin unfortunately, tried Nefopam, pregablin, amitriptyline and others but only one i haven't tried is Duloxotine but pain clinic said I would have to wean off my Gabapentin first and every time I have tried to reduce my dose I have been hit with nerve pain. Tramadol aren't great long term as they are very addictive try and wean off them. My doctor won't prescribe them long term. I had to persevere with gabapentin when I was first put on them. Give Nefopam a try, also ask about the Duloxotine if you haven't tried them but please get off the Tramadol. I always have them to hand if I need them but not good long term. I've just found a really good rubbing/ pain relief cream. Purchased on Amazon, game changer. Good Luck.

Can I ask how you got your GP to prescribe you tramadol as mine refuses to even consider a prescription of tramadol! It's so frustrating to read other people are on it but your doctors won't prescribe you it!
