lady health professional who did this over the phone with me asked about my issues with my back and how they affect me . I then mentioned my Hemiplegic migraines I was told no I’m discussing your back I will tell you when I want you to discuss that if you don’t mind . To be honest I felt as though I couldn’t cope at that point as though I had been spoken to like a naughty child it took me back . So I said oh right ok and she continued with the questions about my back and how it effects me .
Yes she did ask about my migraines however she never asked about my fibromyalgia or any other illness I had so I felt as though I couldn’t bring them into to conversation. I thought she would bring them into the conversation from what she had said earlier- however when our conversation was coming to and end 1 1/2 hour later and I was so tired I could have cried she said something in the lines of so it just pain then . Yes it is I said thinking she was talking about my back she said ok and bye that was the end of our phone call . She never brought the fibromyalgia into the conversation or some other illnesses She confused me by saying she would say when she wanted to discuss them so I thought I couldn’t. Now they haven’t been brought into the pip review. It was a review as my illness have got worse and I already had full mobility for pips.
I never received the info about having someone with me explains about it in the post until it after . So my husband was with me but was really frightened to speak as we thought he couldn’t?
I think as I wasn’t given the opportunity to say my fibromyalgia and other illnesses effect this or that way will effect my pips . I am worried sick it will lower or stop my pips I get full pips including mobility. I was confused as she never said now I could talk about the other illnesses it wasn’t untill she said goodbye I realised she never had I’m not that clear headed I get foggy headed if you know what mean and after that amount of time I was sooo shattered . She also seemed to want to hurry up and end the call as when she started with my phone call she said it would take an hour 😢. I’m waiting now dwp say they have the report and will let me know shortly.

try not to worry, you can’t change what’s happened. Give it a couple of days then ring DWP and ask for a copy of the assessors report. That should give you an idea of what points she suggests awarding. The report will also show where you think she hasn’t understood what you were saying or things omitted. This gives you a chance to get ready for a mandatory reconsideration (MR) should it be necessary.
Thank you -I have only ever done my original assessment and that was quite a while ago . I have taken on board what you have said and I will do what you have suggested with my daughters help as she will remind me Monday. I don’t remember things to well so showing her this had helped.
I also will have to find out about mandatory reconsideration how it works etc.. if it comes to it as my assessments are carried out over phone due to all my health issues/ problems I have but as you say I will get there if and when I need too.
There’s lots of info online from the charities such as turn2 us, Scope etc. DWP rely on folk giving up. My relative had their award lowered from enhanced to standard, put in for MR still the same, advised DWP going to tribunal and the day before that hearing they texted to say they were withdrawing from tribunal and reinstating the original award of enhanced.
hi the lady on the phone from pip will deliberately not bother with other illnesses because this government are trying to save money and they want everyone off with muscular skeletal problems this government is stopping people to claim pip it’s terrible cause I have sciatica that keeps coming back and severe fibromyalgia I’m always in pain and always tierd how do they think someone like me supposed to get a job it’s crazy
Speak to citizens advice they will help you write everything you want to br8ng up in a concise letter may even advice someone who can ho with you to ensure you get to cover everything! Best of luck!
I went just in and asked for a home visit for my assessment as I would they rather saw me and I got an older gentleman gp out to my home he was so nice and listened to everything, I also asked for his report which I got I was assessed and awarded middle care and high mobility for DLA which I’m still on and have not changed to pip still DLA, I’m from Scotland so it will be adult disability care I will change to, but I will always have that report from that first assessment at home, I’m hoping that I will be able to use this and hopefully they won’t go against the report from home visit. My circumstances have also changed since my first assessment, i was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have breast cancer, I’ve never contacted them of the change as I didn’t want to upset the reward, I have now, but I now also have full Stenosis of spine and curve in thoracic area. I’ve kept every letter every report from every appointment I have had since 2011 which I will put in with my original report and now all the other , reports they can be so rude and draining but just remember, it’s you that has the illness not them, I would have everything ready for a MR and as for a home visit so they can see you. Also write all your aids down like showers etc and also the aids I use with all the rest of my aids is my phone I use tracker on phone as good and bad days and also use relaxation app to help at night as theses are counted as aids. Stand up to them they are only people the same as you and I and they don’t need to live with your constant pain, and I’m I believe fibromyalgia is in the blue book of illness which qualifies you for pip. But fight to the end. I think most are overturned before tribunal stage, why take it away from you when you already had it and you had deteriorated since. I have a few more dr/ consultants since my first assessment which I’m sure you have. Good luck and I’m sure you will be fine. X
