I did. It was chronic pain in the teeth. I also suffer from Klinefelters syndrome and Taurodontism. Taurodontism is a tooth condition where teeth collapse internally. The dentists assume that you are not taking proper care of them. But it's the dentists that need to be taught about the wider conditions of teeth. Normal high Street dentists don't know about it. Heck even the student and teaching professors needed to be reminded of it. Best is to try to contact a NHS or university dental school and get them to investigate. They will be the ones with the most up to date practices.

Your problems may not be related to fibromyalgia, I had a similar problem last year and visited my dentist on four occasions with toothache. He could not see any problem with my teeth. I then got toothache were I did not have a tooth. There was no sign of infection or gum problem. I had a CT scan for another problem which was negative for the condition my consultant suspected. However it did find I had a chronic sinus infection which after treatment stopped my repeated tooth and ear problems. The only symptom I had for my sinus problems was a slightly runny nose but it did cause both tooth and ear pain.

I agree sinuses can be mistaken for tooth pain. Also Myofascial pain, bruising from clenching teeth at night and TMJ. My problems have calmed down with self massage and identifying low vitamin D so now take D3 supplements.

I grind my teeth asleep and my old dentist arranged for a lower jaw bespoke gum shield which I put a smear of sensitive toothpaste in it before I fit it. It might be worth asking your dentist or get referred to Myofascial department at local hospital.

I get that and I think me and my teeth are just hyper sensitive. I find if I brush with a much larger than usual dollop of sensodyne rapid relief toothpaste and don't rinse this helps. Dentist also said you can rub it straight on the teeth in between brushing if need be. I also use a sensitive head on my oral b electric toothbrush. If I stop doing either of these it gives me right gip! Does it actually work or is it a placebo affect, who knows but it's an awful discomfort to suffer so sending you hugs better. I hope you find something that works x ps I've just had my yearly check up at the dentist, he always says my teeth are in excellent condition although they always have a general ache about them, especially on waking 🤷

Hello, around October 2023 I was suffering with awful toothache with pain radiating to my ear & head (shooting pains) I went to a dentist but nothing showed on the X-ray and she could find nothing to answer why I was in so much pain! Next day I went to my GP in floods of tears as the pain was horrific, I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, it is caused by pressure on the trigeminal nerve close to where it enters the brain stem. I was put on medication and thank god it worked, whilst I was as that GP appointment I was told that the dentist should know about trigeminal neuralgia and should have referred me for further examination!

Push for answers as tooth pain is the pits, take care of yourself.

hi,

Can I ask.. does your trigeminal neuralgia pain go into your cheek bones, jaw hinge and top & bottom rows of your teeth on one side as well as the pain into your ear and head ? The pain goes into my right eye too. I had thought it might be my scalp muscles & tendon, cheekbone muscles & jaw muscles causing the pain with them all being so tight.

I’d be really grateful if you could tell me a bit more about your pain? It would definitely be helpful to me if you were happy to.

Hope so. Wait to hear

Hello, sorry for the late reply I have been busy with my new Grandson 🩵

Everything you’ve described above is the pain I experienced & still do in certain areas when it flares up! I also get pain in the nose and also burning sensations mainly here and a long the jaw radiating to the ear. Shooting pains to my head still happen regularly and without any warning!

It really isn’t pleasant and can be excruciating to the point you just don’t want to move as the slightest movement makes it worse 🥲

I was put on several medications until we found one I wasn’t allergic to! This has kept it relatively quiet, but like I’ve said I still get flare ups but nothing as horrendous as that first bout.

Hope this helps, take care

Move over Folks, coming through!!!

Suffering24, I'm sure mine didn't start as Fibro, But butted through and led to all sorts of crazy,

Before lock down started my Dentist said I would need root canal surgery, It was okay, a little after pain but manageable, She had also said I needed some teeth removed (I can't remember the cause) So after first appointment at hospital, I didn't return to the dentist as emergency only,

After the root I noticed a hair line crack in a front tooth, this was chipped when I fell over as a child, Ignored the crack until eating toast something felt odd, Half of my tooth had come out, From top to bottom, Argghhhh,

Managed to actually get an appointment about a year later when the rest of that tooth had fallen out and several more joined in,

I was in agony for months and depression had well and truly taken over, This was the time I'm ashamed to say for over the year I think I got out of my bed 3 times maybe ish, But didn't care enough about myself to brush my teeth,As well as other hygiene matters, (I won't go into details)

I had 3 bottom teeth left until November 24, I was put out in the hospital and now no teeth at all,🦷🦷🦷🦷

I had to have them done in hospital as the Fibro pain was too much even though the Dentist had put so much local in but I was still feeling pain as if no local had been given,

I have a fitting for dentures in March, So in answer to your question, I don't think it's the Fibro that's causing your tooth ache but something that effected another part which the Fibro maybe? As always we advise, Go to your dentist I'm sure they will be able to do something to help, Hope you get sorted soon,

Take care Debs

Hi I suffered with my teeth for over two years the dentist kept telling me he couldn't find anything wrong with them. Then he looked closer at an X-ray and all my teeth just under the gum line looked like they had a perforated line. I had my teeth removed two at a time because the waiting list for the hospital was 2 - 3 years. I couldn't wait that long. The dentist was not allowed to take out more than that at a time or it was classed as abuse (go figure?) I was never more happy than when I got my new dentures and I could smile again.

Gentle hugs 💜

Hi Bacalocacould I just ask you how much it cost for your dentures. I dont have many top teeth left, and need to go back to my dentist. I am assuming that my dentist will ask me about dentures. I dont think I could afford them.

I have always blamed the state of my teeth on the fibro & cfs. I have had Fibro and CFS for 20 years plus. My teeth were always strong and in good condition when I was younger. I am convinced that it is the Fibro that have made my teeth and gums weak.

I would be grateful for any replies to my question.

Take good care of yourselves everybody.

best wishes to all, Jaxie
