Hi, I hope you are all well. I'm a newbie here . I have been diagnosed with Fybromyalgia which is awful.. My main symptoms are pins and needles in my head, face and legs 24/7. This is driving me crazy. Do'es anyone have these awful sensations? My head tingles all day with a feeling of movement in the head. The pins and needles are in my face and legs too daily.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thank you and take care

Hi Bubba, welcome to the group. I’m really sorry to hear you’re dealing with these constant pins and needles sensations—it sounds incredibly overwhelming. You’re definitely not alone, as many people with fibromyalgia experience similar nerve-related symptoms, including tingling, numbness, and odd sensations in the head, face, and legs.

What Could Be Causing This?

1. Nerve sensitivity: Fibromyalgia can amplify nerve signals, making even minor sensations feel much more intense or persistent.

2. Allodynia: This is where the body misinterprets harmless stimuli (like light touch) as pain, tingling, or movement.

3. Poor circulation: Sitting or lying still for long periods can worsen these sensations, particularly in the limbs.

4. Stress and fatigue: Both can heighten your symptoms, as the nervous system is already hyperactive with fibro.

Suggestions That May Help:

1. Gentle movement and stretches: Simple stretches for your face, legs, and neck can improve circulation and relieve tension.

2. Heat therapy: A warm compress on the head, face, or affected areas may help ease the tingling.

3. Mind-body techniques: Practices like deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation can calm the nervous system.

4. Stay hydrated: Dehydration can sometimes worsen nerve sensitivity.

5. Talk to your doctor: Medications like gabapentin or pregabalin may help calm nerve overactivity and reduce tingling. They might also check for other conditions like vitamin deficiencies (B12, for example) or nerve compression.

These sensations can be incredibly frustrating, but there are ways to manage and reduce them. You’re not alone—this community understands, and reaching out is a great first step. If the symptoms continue or worsen, it’s worth discussing further with your doctor. Take care, and please keep asking for support here whenever you need it. We’re all here for you.👍🙏💪

Thank you so much for your kindness and understanding. I have tried much of what you've said. I'm at a loss with it all. Had and MRI/CT SPINAL TAP and all normal.

Neurologist is saying the tingling is Silent Migraine and can cause these strange sensations, but I don't agree. He gave me PIZOTIFEN to take [ HAVE NOT HELPED ] Next thing is for me to have BOTOX on Thursaday but, I'm a tad apprehensive to have this procedure done.

I am also being tested for PHAECRMOCYTOMA , Adrenal insufficiency because of Hot flushing, high BP, constantly urinating and Nausea with stomach pains. I'm also very tired and have lost alot of weight.

Will keep you posted

Thank you again and take care

Kind regards

Have you been checked for Diabetes. I have those symptoms to and it's due to neuropathy from my type 2 diabetes and ibs..

I found Deluxatine caused horrendous flushes but helped the pins and needles. Researching other medicines to swop with

Hi, what was the result of your serum B12 test and do you also have your full blood count and serum folate (B9)? This is assuming that you are not taking any vitamin supplements - if you are, they may have obscured the markers in the blood that doctors may have seen to help make a diagnosis. Actually, just looked at some of your previous posts and I see that you have a thyroid issue (which will affect ability to absorb B12 and may make Pernicious Anaemia more likely although this is only one form of B12 deficiency), that you struggle with eating and anorexia (which will also have affected intake and absorption), and that you were having B12 injections a year ago as you've had all these symptoms for some considerable time. How many jabs did you get in the end, or are you still having them? The doctor that you were seeing then clearly had no clue about B12.

Hi BubbateleyI can sympathise with the discomfort and driving-you-crazy of pins and needles on your face and head because these are main symptoms with me too! It feels like insects are crawling in my hair and the tingling in my face can be slight to a feeling of burning or bubbling. It's so hard to not scratch - I haven't found anything to stop it! I hate to say it but I've sort of got used to it and had to accept that is part of my daily life. Sending you hugs.

Hi, I too get pins and needles in my arms and legs, it gets much worse when I am stressed or anxious about anything. I too have fibromyalgia and also pernicious anemia. It’s hard to tell which causes what. I hope you find something that helps from the suggestions people have made. I just try and do things to calm or distract. Like a nice warm bath or a good film/book

Hi bubbatetley, I too have the tingling sensation on the right side of my head. I don’t know what it it is nor what is causing it. I can only sympathize with you. I haven’t found anything that makes it feel better. The tingling in the legs could be caused by peripheral neuropathy. I do have that and am taking gabapentin and a supplement called alpha lipoic acid which my doctor recommended since my vitamin D level went too high and was taking Pre Dx which was another supplement that I was taking for years that another doctor recommended but my doctor’s office has a high turnover rate for the one I see. Maybe some else has suggestions for the head tingling (mine turns into pain especially in the late afternoon and evening).
