Hi Trikki, it's been a while . Sorry to hear of your painful hip.
Fibromyalgia and bursitis are two different conditions that can have similar symptoms, but they have some key differences.
One difference is Fibromyalgia pain is widespread and can feel like deep muscle pain, while bursitis pain is localized to the affected joints. I hope it settles down for you soon take care.

Good to hear from you Dizzytwo....Still fighting the good fight I imagine like us all.
Seems quieter on here than it used to be or is it just my imagination? Thanks for the info and take care of yourself....Trikki
Hi, I’ve had it in both hips over the years and the only thing that helped me was the steroid injections so they are definitely worth a try xx
No..anyone can get bursitis…I have RA & I find it comes & goes for no apparent reason…then it can disappear for months. Hope yours passes off soon.
Hi Trikki, it's so painful, it's hard to get comfortable. I rub magnesium oil into my hips and lower back. Saw a physio he gave me an exercise that works. You need a stretchy exercise band, sit on the edge of your sofa band round the knees keep your feet together and part the knees 😘
When I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia 14 years ago, the rheumatologist also told me I had trochanteric bursitis on both hips. It was so painful in the area I couldn't bear to touch my skin. Unfortunately it is something that I seem to have very regular attacks of. She advised me to do a particular exercise- lay on each side with knees bentand slowly lift the top leg up, hold it for a few seconds and then lower it. I am overly sensitive or intolerant to all pain relief other than paracetamol so just have to cope best I can. I'm sure you agree it is horribly painful on top of having the chronic pain of fibro.
