Morning everyone, I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for around a Yr now and take 50mg of amitriptyline every evening which doesn't help with pain but it seems to really help with my sleep so im not keen on changing it , but for the last few months I've been get pain in my right arm which sometime feel like it's in the bone and some times like really strong ache but today I've woke up and my arm is so painful and weak I can't use it, I can't pick things up cause the pain is awful. Has anybody else had similar and any tips on anything that will help?

Hello, sorry too read of your pain, meds works for sleep which is good but not your pain in the arm, can you ask for a call back from your GP or appointment for a piece of mind too speak about this, Fibro can throw out many symptoms but I would get checked too be 100% cent sure what’s going on, I hope you get some answers very soon x

hi animal99 sorry to hear you experiencing this I have same but lesser amitriptyline and my arms and hands are affected I get involuntary movements now and take gaberpentin nothing seems to help not even physio which last made whole arm numb and weak and could not use it they said it’s all overlapping with other conditions and said must do physio still. Take it easy 🙏

Hi

I have the same, pain in right upper arm and it has limited my range of movement. The GP sent me for x-ray as I’m unable to lift arm to the side or put it behind my back due to pain and almost a ‘locking’ sensation. Lo and behold the x-ray came back normal, so it must be fibromyalgia related in my case. I take anti-inflammatory meds but they don’t help at all. The pain makes it difficult to turn in bed and some nights I wake up with a sensation it’s more a burning, gnawing pain when I’ve slept in that side. Sorry I’m no help but it’s a comfort to know someone he similar symptoms and it is due to the fibro. Hope you can manage it better somehow soon.

Hi, I have pain in my left arm. Physio GP said it was rotator cuff tendinopathy. Eventually it turned into a frozen shoulder as I hadn't been able to use it much due to pain. X-ray showed nothing. I've just had a hydrodilation injection to stretch it which was extremely painful (and expensive!). I'm now gritting my teeth through physio exercises. I've had the pain a year so far. I still think it's fibromyalgia related. I'm on Nortriptyline but nothing actually helps with the pain. My advice would still get it checked out and keep it moving best you can as a frozen shoulder is a big problem and if I can't get it moving I'm facing surgery. Best of luck x

Hi Loobielu , sorry to hear you are going through this, I had exactly the same, being diagnosed with frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel syndrome, I had so many tests x-rays blood test, physio, this went on for a long time, I was referred to rheumatology back in October 2017 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia , I am on a number of medications , medications I find they don't get rid of pain , but they help ease the pain just enough to get a few hours sleep. There have been times when I have forgotten to take my medications and wondered why I have been awake the whole night. Hoping you get some answers soon , sending hugs to everyone. 🫠x

Hey there 👋, it's so frustrating when they keep testing etc. Almost feels like they are guessing. I had another appointment with my orthopedic surgeon as a follow up to the injection and he is confused I'm still in pain and he said to stop the physio and rest for 8 weeks and then go back and see him. Im not sure he will get to the bottom of this pain 🤷 x

Hi there. Sorry to hear your having ongoing issues with your arm. My fibromyalgia started in my arms and Continues after living with fibromyalgia for 20 years. My arms are weak in picking items up at times even hanging the washing out is hard lifting my arms higher is not possible they start to shake. I would get checked over by your GP as it might be something simple and not fibromyalgia. My arms become uncomfortable and swelling is there most of the time. Because fibromyalgia has so many symptoms which can be different for each individual. Hope you feel better very soon. Big hugs take care xx

Hi, so sorry to read you are in terrible pain. I understand and sympathise. I had exactly what you are describing right at the start of my Fibro journey. Initially i was diagnosed with frozen shoulder, but it soon became clear it wasnt that. I had physio, pills, lotions etc and nothing worked. Then one day my physiotherapist asked me if i would be willing to try acupuncture and of course i replied with 'i will try anything'. So i had 4 sessions of acupuncture, and i do have to tell you that after the first session, the pain was worse for a few days, but after the 4th session, my upper arm pain was completely gone. It was the most wonderful feeling. So maybe you could consider trying a few sessions and see if that helps. I also am an enthusiastic advocat for Freezegel! Its cheap as chips, a blue gel that smells a bit like Vicks, you rub it into the painful area and you can feel it sinking into the pain within a few seconds. It gives me enough relief to get back to sleep or continue functioning and getting on with my day. You can get it on Ebay or Poundland, places like that. My legs muscles and knees certainly thank me when i rub that it! I hope you find some kind of relief soon. Gentle hugs for you. x

Hi This is how I started with such pain in my arms I was unable to raise them further than half way. This went on for 2 years but improved after a while with occasional set backs. I have whole body pain all the time but with severe pain moving to different areas. I just have to adjust each time.

Good luck xxx
