I have Fibromyalgia and I have been diagnosed for about three years.
My problem is like you I have this tremendous pain in my shoulder and down my arm. I can describe the pain as sharp stabbing pain that radiates down my arm and into my hand and fingers. The only pain relief that touches this pain is Tramodol. I can't live on Tramadol as that sends me ga ga and to sleep !
I'm going to see my Dr later today to see what he has to say. I hope he can sort me out.
That went okay. He upped my dose of Amytriptaline from 25 to 50mg. and he gave me some more Tramodal.
Today my arm pain hasn't been to bad. I haven't taken to many Tramodal either. I have been to pain clinic today. This was my first appointment. I am going to have mindfulness treatment.
The lady who is going to help me,has said that I will end up a new woman. Well let's hope.
I was wondering whether it might be carpel tunnel problems? Not sure I've spelt that right!
You could also ask your GP to refer you for some physio. They will be able to help you with some very gentle exercises.
Pregabalin is usually a pretty good pain med but if it's not working for you, see your GP and ask what s/he recommends. It may be that the sister med Gabapentin will suit you better but that is down to your GP to decide
Failing all of that you can ask to be referred to a Pain Management Clinic by your GP.

Hi
Sorry to hear that you have fibro.
As to your pain etc, slightly different to mine. Mine is constant in head, neck, shoulders arms, wrists, fingers,,with sharp shooting pains. Also lower back, legs, ankles and feet, with phases of unbearable, intense pain.
I had no luck with meds, but some on the site have. I just take ibuprofen, extra vits, hemp tablets, magnesium tabs, herbal sleeping tabs, Volterol gel and try to pace myself. Someone posted that a bath in Epsom salts helps, I only have showers in my house so can't try that one.
My advice to you is keep trying the meds and see what works for you. Get to a pain clinic and ask them for exercises or acupuncture etc. Just keep trying.
Also read the mother page and NHS web page.
I am sure you'll get lots more support and helpful suggestions from the lovely people on this site. It's been a great help to me and I hope it is to you too.
Try soaking your feel in a bowl of water with Epsom Salts, although this is not a bath the therapeutic effects of Epsom Salts will penetrate the skin of your feet and into your system.
So sorry to hear of your pain as its in a place that it's hard to avoid not using.I would ta l k to my gp about a different, maybe stronger pain med.I wish you the very best.Peck🐤
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted you a link below to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:
When my pain becomes too much for me I use a TENS Machine, and this does help me considerably. I have pasted you a link and an excerpt from an NHS / Arthritis Care pdf on TENS Machines below:
unfortunately my rheumatologist couldnt help and refferred me to a pain clinic., im still waiting for appt.s. im due to try a tens machine., and they will be offering me pschology help alswell. As you can im agine the waiting lists are so long.,.,
it seems the meds done work for many people ??
i fear that it will get worse . it started in my arms and now in my shins. its more a gnawing pain in the ligament tendon areas.,
just havent met any gps or specialists that know how to treat this., tbh
