I've sufferd with fibro since a very young age so I learned to live with the pain, with the help of medication and learning my body's limits, but in feb this year I had a bad fall and hurt my back and hips and taken a turn for the worse,I've been laid up in bed ever since in really bad pain, every morning I wake up and my back is completely stiff I can't move my partner has to help me up in to a sitting position but there's days I can't even hold my head up.ive been to my docs several times and he sent me for X-ray an the results came back sayin I have server spondylitis.so not only have I got the appeal on my mind I've now got the stress of more pain an dicomfort.and at the moment I just feel like I have no qulity of life,I'm in pain every day an can't even stand for 5mins. I just feel like it a crime to be in pain, sorry for goin on it's just I feel out of my depths with the ESA Appeal I just don't no what I'm doin. :-((

Hi Bec,

Sounds as if you hav had a really rotten time recently. There is nothing quite as consuming as back pain. When you are on edge it seems to increase inferocitiy. I cannot make it go away but I dont think with what you describe you have any reason to worry about your ESA appeal. Just go in and tell it like it is dont try and hide the depth of the pain.

Today you must try and have a pamper day it may just be reading in bad or sitting in the sun for a bit. Remember the ESA lot arent going to eat you and if you get very uptight just think of them in their undies. Then you mustn't laugh out loud.

I send you a gentle hug ((((((()))))) keep your spirits up xgins

Hi Becs.Sorry to hear things are so tough for you right now.

You don't say if you have sent the appeal and are waiting or if you have not sent it yet, DIAL and Citizens Advice may help you put your appeal forward, If the new information of spondylitis is after your medical then you can write to ESA with the new details and ask then to reconsider,,I am guessing you have been awarded ESA but placed in the work related activity group? you can add any supporting letters etc from GP or hospital but be careful of fees

direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_d...

this link should take you to a guide that gives the scoring for the assessments, use it to be very detailed in describing how your health affects you

Hope this helps

Gigi

At Benefits and Work site, they are lawyers so they have all the case law and guides on ESA that are very detailed, tell you want to say and not say, warns you of the pit falls, and gives the Atos hand guide Atos people look at, so you can see how loaded your form questions are. You do have to join, but if you lack funds, I can copy it all and send it via email.

My email is ecommoford@yahoo.co.uk

Hi, could I email you and get a copy please, have just sent in mandatory reconsideration letter but get the feeling I'm gonna end up having to take it to tribunal as I'm sure they just put the letters in a pile and say no without even looking at them :(

Please get a letter of support from your GP then see your local MP... Mine offered to come to my house. My MP wrote to the DWP informing them to place me in the Support Group without going to an assessment with ATOS.. Just by the original ESA form and the support I just mentioned. Surprise!! I was put in the ESA Support Group(reviewed in 6 months though!!).Constant assessments also made my mental health suffer.. It's hard enough coping with Fibro..Good Luck ..Wendy x

I feel for you , I don't know what to say to make you feel better , except i understand your pain as i too have been in a similar situation as you . Try to take each day at a time , i know it gets you down , chronic pain is soul destroying , hang in there, you can do it , its amazing how we manage to cope when we think we can't take any more . I've felt suicidal with my pain, i have no quality of life and it just gets me down too . You are not alone , and there are people who understand and can support you.

Hugs

You are never alone with this group. We all understand your pain and situation. Many a time I have felt that I have no quality of life and what's the point. I too have severe back probs which set off my fibromyalgia. If you are interested I know of a very good chiropractor doing the gonstead method which completely different to others. They will only work on you once you have had an x ray. However it is private and not on the NHS, but after 18 years of hell and trying so many different chiros and osteopaths and numerous other things, I as willing to give it a go on a friends advise who had tried it. By the way this guy is in London. It has made a huge difference, not cured, but more stable. Wishing you less pain and good luck with appeal.

Diet can trigger more pain...can you go to the gov. appeals office? Go in a wheel chair and ask to talk to the one handling your case.
