Does anyone have trouble eating, as I am finding it hard to eat today. All my food feels so dry and hard to swallow.

Being a carer is not only about the physical aspect of the job. There is also the caring role, confidentiality, respect, empathy for your client, however difficult they may be, it is the very least they deserve.

To speak about a client in this manner on an open forum is quite disgusting. Personal care is a massive part of your job! Put yourself in their position, would you be happy to be talked about this way?

Treat your clients how YOU would like and expect to be cared for and you won't go far wrong!

We're on a confidential forum, and no client name was mentioned. Cleaning up poop isn't the most fun part of anybody's day. Lots of mom's do a great deal of bit*hing about spectacular baby 💩 without an ounce of contempt.

No you are not on a confidential forum unless the post is locked. If your unsure please read our guidelines.

Agree it definitely isn't but the difference is working as a carer you are paid and trained to be professional at all times.

Whether names are mentioned or not the manner of speaking about clients matters.

It could be your family member being spoken about like that, or you, it's wrong and totally unprofessional.

Mums bit*hing about their baby's spectacular poop is totally different.

I completely agree. I don't think OP is the carer . Going on previous posts his wife is the carer.

But I personally would not like think a bed bound member of my family was spoke of in this way.

Please feel free to report any concerns you may have to the admin team thank you .

Just to put things right for everyone he is all alone no family around so just my wife and I are caring for him.Wish he would just give us some time off but he is not happy to get what the social worker is wanting to do. She wants to bring in carers 2 days a week and us for the rest of the week. But the problem is they will always be different people so they will not be able to do everything for him his own way. Of which it has to be.

Your reply opens many questions. If this man has no family. Who employed you and your wife to be his carers? The next obvious question has to be imo. Why can't or won't the people you work for supply relief workers? If you are been made to work 7 days a week without time off this is not legal .so why do you stay ? Not sure either why social workers would allow this.

But saying all that it is very wrong imo to come on to an open forum and talk about this man in a negative way. Sorry but this is not what this forum is about.

If this man can't control his bodily functions may I suggest you speak with his doctor and see what other fully trained help is available for him.

He employs us with the council paying and he has capacity to understand what he is doing.I think I'll leave it at that point now as some people are thinking it is not right

Exactly I personally don't think this is an appropriate discussion for this forum.

I answered this on another post just the other day.

Yes, I have terrible issues with eating, drinking, and meds.

Been going on for many years.

Absolutely everything sticks , food, liquid, meds.

It is extremely painful, and scary.

When it happens I lift my head/chin to look directly up at the roof and take big deep breaths in and out until it passes.

Often can't finish meals because it is so bad.

Take omeprazole but it still happens.

OK thanks so much for that so I am not alone with this

It's not pleasant, but when food feels dry and like it's choking me, I moisten it and eat teeny bites.
