Extreme lethargy day

PenelopeClearwater profile image

Pushed myself too hard this week and now I’m so tired, it’s hard to move my thumbs to type this!

My hands feel really weak and strangely tight and achy in the joints - I expect them to look like balloons when I look at them, but they just look normal.

Does anyone else relate?

💙

Hi there, could it be arthritis in your hands or start off ? We use our hands so much during the day. I try massage every night with some cream just to get rid of the stiffness, I have started gradually weeding etc in my garden (little at a time 🤣)and they do ache much more. I also keep them under the water in the bath so they get a soak too and use Epsom salts in the water. People always think to soak their feet when achy but our hands do as much work or more really during the day/night. Some companies do use different herbs etc in their hand creams so I always look out for something that might help x

Oh no - is that what arthritis feels like?? 😳 I can’t be doing with that on top of fibromyalgia!! 😅

I use cocoa butter on my hands all the time, but I’ll look into some herbal hand cream - thank you! 💙

Morning, perhaps when you next visit your doctor give this a mention, I love Cocoa butter, when the body shop has a sale on I grab some from there, especially on my legs as they get covered up in Winter with trousers so nice to be wearing less indoors etc as weather has been very nice last few days xx

I’ll definitely mention it - I’m seeing them next week, so thank you for the tip ☺️

As ever, I’m so grateful to be able to share and get advice here x

Yep! I get this. My arms and hands hurt like that everyday. The severity changes sometimes but generally it's always there and always painful.

It really helps to know I’m not alone with this stuff. I’m really new to understanding fibro and trying to work out my symptoms and triggers etc… it’s a lot to deal with, isn’t it…

Sending hugs 🤗

I'm new too. Still figuring out triggers ect. Hugs to you also xxx

I get this all the time , my husband has had to put a ball caught on the bedroom door so I can just hold the handle and pull it towards me . I can’t pull the hand down in the mornings due to my hands hurting and not working properly. Some days I get really upset as I struggle to make a cup of tea where I can’t hold anything properly. I seem to get upset over stupid little things all the time.

That’s such a good idea - I grew up with those on the doors, but don’t have that here, I should look into it.

I absolutely relate to getting upset over things. I had to move back in with my parents and just hate that I can’t help vacuum or cook. I so my own laundry etc, but it builds up when I’m having a flare and I hate asking them to help… I just hope I get a handle on this so I can live again

I hope you don’t beat yourself up too much (I can give the advice even if I don’t follow it 😉) 💙

Yes, my hands are always painful and have trouble opening things. Sometimes worse than usual. I try to keep up the strength by squeezing a rubber ball while watching tele, also have a small weight which I lift for arm strength. I have a hand held infrared gadget which I also use on my hands nightly.

Great advice, thank you! I’ll get myself a rubber ball (and try to keep it from the pup 😂) 💙

Hello. Yes! I absolutely relate to how you feel. I have fibro and struggle with the lethargy a great deal. Some days it's so bad I don't even manage to get out of bed and only manage trips to the bathroom with the help of my husband. I find that allowing yourself the time to rest and take care of yourself isn't always easy and so we end up pushing ourselves to far beyond what is realistically our limits. So don't feel bad or punish yourself for having days like this but say ' you know what..... today I just can't but hopefully tomorrow I will. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you - I definitely need the reminders that it’s ok to rest x

Yes I get this everyday and it's been getting worse lately, just holding my tablet and tapping on a few pages can leave my wrists, hands and fingers weak and painful, I have to prop my tablet up on something as I can't hold it up for too long and if I do anything such as a small amount of sewing the thumb on that hand swells up. I've started wearing arthritis gloves to bed because when I wake up in the morning my hands and fingers are so stiff and painful but I've yet to find the perfect pair!. xx

Yes - I’ve been wearing mine to bed… not ideal now the weather is heating up 😅

I do need to start wearing my magnet therapy jewellery again - maybe that will help. Thank you!💙

Hi, are you using a phone? I can't cope with it, I use a PC and regular keyboard. it was you comments about the thumbs which gave me the clue.

Cheers, Midori

Yep - I can’t sit at my computer for long, so I just use the phone 😅

OK, I have Arthritis in my hands so My thumbs would also give me problems, one reason I don't use my phone much.

I can relate to that. When I have weak hands, I tend to feel the weakness and aches through my arms and legs too… all good fun, isn’t it?! 😅😩
