Hi , hope you are all as well as can be today. Does anyone have any experience of buying from ableworld online, I've chosen a rollator and it's asking if I'm vat exempt, read up on it and it's not specific, it says if you are classed as having a long term or chronic illness and can ask doctor about this, I don't really want to mither my doctors about this, I'm on standard pip for mobility and daily living, I have fibromyalgia, raynauds and osteoarthritis.

hi, I’m not 💯 sure, but vat exemptions normally apply to a business?? I could be wrong, but I see where they are coming from, as you can get help with high rate mobility, have you thought about another supplier?.

Hi there,a lot of mobility companies ask this. Your ok you have a long term illness. Just sign it. I think it exempts the company from paying vat on their products. I have had this a few times.

Hi, not sure what you mean ? I bought a new rollator a few weeks ago and was told I could do the form on line or send by post. You don't need to see a GP . Or like me just ignored the last one.

I remember having to do this 30 years ago when I bought my first tens machine so it's not a new thing . And I don't believe there is a law to say you have to respond to their Vat request. So it's up to you really with what you feel happy doing x

I've never had to involve my gp when claiming vat exemptions. Simply had to sign a statement confirming I have a chronic health condition.

Yes I get vat exemption for aids. I buy everything through Careco. It's automatic vat exemption by ticking the box under the illnesses/conditions section.

It's definitely worth doing but I bought mine from Health and Care, as they were a little cheaper than Able world. x

Hi Blue2. If you have a long term disability you will be VAT exempt for any disability aid you require. I have not heard of that specific company, I like Dizzytwo buy all my disability aids from Careco. It might be worth looking to see whether they have that specific rollator for the same price.

I use Careco too, and have always ticked the vat exempt box with no problem. Must admit that the first time I did it I wasn’t sure but I’ve never had any problems x

As others have said you have a long term condition so anything you buy that you need because of that condition you are VAT exept. I have bought from Ableworld but from one of their shops, I completed the form there and then. Why pay VAT to the government when you don't have to?
