When I'm active and moving around, I don't feel tired at all. However, the moment I sit down, it's like my body takes it as a signal to shut down. Sometimes, I feel like all it takes is a blink and I'm out. I work from home, and I've dozed off at my desk countless times. There have even been occasions where I've fallen asleep while sitting on the toilet. The sofa is the worst culprit; it's practically a guarantee that I'll drift off there.
What's frustrating is that I don't notice myself getting tired. I can be sitting on the sofa, watching TV with a cup of tea in my hand, and the next thing I know, I'm waking up to a wet lap because I've dozed off and tipped the tea over me in my sleep.
I'm 49 years old but some days, I feel like I'm 89.

Good morning,I am the same. I liken it to the early stages of both of my pregnancies. It's definitely your body telling you to stop. I find it's hard not to resent it. I'm working on just accepting that I can't do anything about it. Take care.
Hi, yes I am the same! I do feel tired most of the time though. Some days I am asleep for 25% or more and still sleep well (sort of) at night. It is very frustrating and people don’t understand what it’s like. On other days I am able to ride through it and get stuff done. I am older than you but when I look at others my age they don’t have the same problem. Check your medication and iron levels I guess as the first port of call. Mine are ‘within normal limits’ so that didn’t help me. Good luck.
Yes, I regularly drown myself in tea! I've actually started not sitting down when I come home from work until I get everything done as I know I'll just conk out - even the loo is dodgy at this point! Totally get how you feel 🫤
Glad I'm not the only one who spills their tea lol. You would think having a hot beverage in your hand would keep you more awake and alert, but no. How are you in the mornings, because that's my best time for me to do stuff.
You would think so! Mornings are not good for me either 😂 have to keep alarm on snooze, fall asleep sitting upright in bed too! Just so tired ALL the time - if only we could get a decent sleep it would make such a difference (I think anyway) I can fall asleep pretty much anywhere but just can't stay asleep.
hi I had similar issues with keeping awake during the day I was then still working doing a stressful desk job travelling every day 49 miles to my desk job I recall there was several times I nodded off at my desk so I kept drinking coffees and bought myself tonics to help with getting extra minerals and vitamins I would go out at lunch and around the town centre before returning to my desk. Several times I fell asleep on the train home but always woke up in time until one evening I slept on the train and was miles away from where I should have got off. The ticket inspector woke me I finally got home from work that evening at23:15 hrs very tired indeed. I’m now retired but go to bed when I’m feeling tired some times even in the afternoon. So you have my sympathies. Have you told your Doctor you may have iron deficiency or other. Hope you get some help soon.x
I think we tend on a good day too think we can take on the world and over do it and pay back is always around the corner, I think sometimes when we stop for a break which we should do we suddenly realise our day has caught us up , the next thing you know you’ve fell asleep but the fibro condition we have at times just cannot carry on and we do have too go with our flow ,yes it’s not like before it’s accepting things are different , you could get some Blood tests done for a piece of mind too eliminate anything else going on . For me personally my fatique can be bad when I wake up not a great way too start ,sometimes I can work it off gradually other days it can be permanant☹️Some people I read here are more awake in the evening s , I do feel better at night .
