Hello , I’ve never heard of this one as you say it fairly new, it’s worth a try as a ythi gvthat helps with daily pain is helpful, I take duloxtene it’s suppose to help us Fibro s but I was initially put on it for anxiety cause threw conditions and it certaintly does it job for that. Let us know how you get on with the new tablet, take care.

Hi Rob172, it's an NSAID too so make sure you're protecting your stomach while taking it and drink plenty of water, also just be mindful that long term use can have negative effects. Personal experience, I now have CKD possibly due to my long term use of Arcoxia (Etoricoxib) & typically it was probably the best pain relief I've ever had 🙄

Hiya, I've not heard of that medication either but good to hear your doctor is thinking outside the box and giving you the opportunity to try something new. With fibro it seems you just have to try anything you can face or afford! I also found Duloxetine numbed my personality but it didn't help with my pain so I came off it as the side affects weren't worth it for me. Best of luck if you decide to try it. Perhaps this will be the one that helps hey 🙏🤞 x

Reading all the comments, I feel that we are all given different meds and it's trial and error. I take Duloxetine, Pregabalin and Ropinarole but unsure any of them really work, in particular Pregabalin. I'm going to talk to my consultant as not happy taking lots of meds if I don't actually feel any benefit. Feel for you all but good luck with the new meds.

Hi, I tried duloxetine for a couple of months. They made my sleep issues worse and didn't help much with the pain. Maybe I didn't take them for long enough. I still find that co-codomol helps more than anything else even though it's not really recommended. Hope you find something that helps you 🙂

Hi, yes I've taken celecoxib for many years. It's definitely not a new drug!! It's other name is celebrex, it's a NASID. Anti inflammatory drug. It certainly helps me with inflammation. I've also had pregabalin and gabapentin and personally don't recommend either, they have many bad side effects and can be difficult to stop. I'm also on duloxetine, for approximately a year and now have terrible insomnia....until recently I wasn't aware that was a side effect. I may stop them and see if my sleep improves. Good luck with the meds.

Hi Rob

Can't help with the new painkiller, but a little with pregabalin. I'm on gabapentin, which is the sister drug. They are pretty much the same. I have been reading a lot of research recently and I was horrified by what I found. They may have added problems to my my already problematic body. One in particular is they can cause dry mouth. I've just been told by the dentist that I'm losing my teeth due to having a dry mouth, as the bacteria multiply 10 fold in a dry mouth and my teeth are sat rotting in my head.

I take 300mg three times a day. I spoke to a locum doctor who said they should not be used long term and totally agreed I need to stop taking them. As they are highly addictive, I have to reduce the dose slowly over months. This month I'm taking 300mg, then 200mg and 200mg. He said I could do it even slower but I want rid asap. Just that reduction of 200mg a day has really set me back. It's incredibly noticeable, but once they are out of my system, I honestly expect to feel better.

The doctor who prescribed me gabapentin was so adamant they were the best drug for fibromyalgia, that I took them without reading. I didn't know they were highly addictive and I didn't know they came with a list of terrible side effects. I trusted my doctor that they were exactly what I needed.

My advice would to read any research you can find on the new drug and if you decide to stop pregabalin, make sure it is done over time and reduce slowly.

I hope everything works out for you and you start to feel as well as possible. I won't say feel better as we all know it's something we manage and we don't just 'get better'!

Also, if duloxetine is an antidepressant, I would recommend venlaflaxine instead. It has terrible side effects if you miss a dose, but since the age of 17 (and I'm 46 now) I've tried many antidepressants and venlaflaxine (for me) is the one that actually works.

I take Celecoxib occasionally. It is very effective in reducing inflammation and pain but does give me an uncomfortable stomach so it's a ' feeling desperate' medication for me.

hi

I’ve been on celecoxib for 4 months. Was on naproxen for many years and just wasn’t touching the pain anymore, celecoxib does work for me… however it does cause slight tummy pain

My doctor did not prescribe Omprozole with it to protect the stomach for over 2 months till another doctor picked up on this! So please make sure if you do request it request both together,

I take 2 tablets a day alongside co codamol

Hi Rob,

I don’t have any experience with Celecoxib but I do know Naproxen & Pregabalin pretty well plus I did try duloxetine unsuccessfully. You haven’t said what Naproxen is like for you but for me it was astonishingly successful in eradicating horrific spinal pain, rigidity muscular pain too. I only stopped taking it because I’d been on it for a few years and I started with entirely unrelated stomach issues (brought on by an ms disease modifying therapy drug). I’ve been taking Pregabalin (prescription also) for 9 years without complaint. It’s one of the 2 mainstays of my pain management. I’ve been aware of all the hoohar in relation to Pregabalin for the last few years & did read extensively about it at the time it first became contentious. As far as I’m aware I have never experienced any side effects. My advice on Pregabalin is as long as any side effects you might experience are minor, have no real effect on your quality of life, it’s doing its job keeping your pain under control and your GP is happy that it has no effects of any consequence on your health I’d stay with it. Duloxetine wise I had a very nasty experience. I only took the first tablet and woke in the middle of the night completely unable to move, pinned down to the bed, whilst feeling totally wired. On the other hand I met 2 people at a pain management course in 2016 and we hung out together for several weeks. Both ladies were on duloxetine with very successful pain limiting experiences. I’ve also spoken to a few other people since then with all but one also saying it worked well for them. The other person said it was brilliant for pain but had a bad psychological episode on the duloxetine as well as its sister drug & ended up being restrained and taken into care for a couple of weeks. My conclusion is so long as a person doesn’t have an underlying psychological problems history it’s definitely worth trying. I think in my case my experience was a one off and just like being sensitive to & reacting to Medical Cannibis duloxetine didn’t just doesn’t work for me.

I hope you can draw something from my experiences and good luck with whatever you choose to dob& take. I hope they help your pain.

Hi Rob, I am prescribed Duloxetine for nerve pain. I take 120mgs and have found it effective for nerve pain and feel more like myself. It's an antidepressant so it helps with mood too. I also take Neurontin which is good for nerve pain. Hope this helps. Good luck with the Duloxetine 👍
