hi everyone, can anyone help with my hair. I am finding it so difficult to dry and straighten my hair as I also have RA. I just keep my arms up. I always had good hair and used to get compliments on it , now I look more like sorrel gummage ! Does anyone have recommendations for hotbrush or something similar that I could manage better. Thank you everyone.

Hello , is your hair fairly long? I bought one of them hair wraps once I’ve dried off on an ordinary towel and wrapped my hair for a few minutes ,just gives you time too sit and recharge before you use a hairdryer too dry you off. It is hard too hold stuff when your drying and trying too straighten at the same time , I use my hands whilst I’m drying and take my fingers right threw my hair too dry it straight (.I’m not lucky enough too have any waves or curls ) I just use an ordinary flat heated straightener and only do this if I’m going out . Hope some members come up with some helpful tips for you xxx
Yes it’s about shoulder length but curly and wavy but it’s quite fine so very unruly. I need some kind of hot brush which will dry and straighten if there is any such thing. I will trap the wrap thing for when I am leaving curly. Thank you.
try ‘the curly girl method’ using only paraben& sulphite fee products. There’s loads to choose from. Have a gander on google.
You can use a diffuser if you can’t cope with damp hair for too long! I use an egg protein mask every couple of weeks and sometimes only use conditioner. Wash it far less- hair adapts.
Can’t get over how curly my hair is. Always sleep with it in a ‘pineapple’ with silk scrunchie. I use Umberto Giannini products, but there’s loads to choose from! X
I have the same problem so I’m having to embrace the curls!
Have a look at BaByliss Big Hair Rotating brush…it,s on Amazon.
I have baby fine hair & have used one for years….I can thoroughly recommend it. There are two circumference sizes…my hair is short so I use the Petite size.
It takes a bit of getting used to…& you must use conditioner so that the brush runs smoothly through your hair & doesn’t snag. You need to go carefully until you are used to it …otherwise you could get in a tangle.I also use a heat protection product that stops frizzing.
It’s not the cheapest on the market…but a lot of hot air brushes don’t rotate…so don’t smooth the hair…..so whatever you choose do check it rotates! Good Luck!
hi
I had this problem. I brought a Dyson wrap thing and even that now is too hard. I have had a soft perm which means I can wash it once or twice a week and then just damp it each day and apply some product. Working really well. Made a huge difference - less pain, less time.
Hi Purplelife 123, I had the same problem, I couldn't manage to dry my long hair, I just didn't have the strength. I bought a Revlon One Step Volumiser and it's a godsend. I just use it as a dryer/straightener and my hair does look good when it's done.
sorry this made me laugh I have ra and fibro and I now do the shaggy dog look as it hurts too much to blow dry 🥰
I recommend 2 products for improving curls and shiny look without the greasy feel, it really helped me.
My hair used to be down to my waist,Always curling and straightening, When I started getting sicker I used to just twirl it round and have a huge bun and wear a head scarf, Not old fashioned
Sadly I just couldn't manage any more😭 Now I have a bob and Hubby helps (too much) To be fare, I don't go out (only appointments)So I don't tend to bother with it enough, There is a brush which heats up and straightens it as you go,
I got mine from e-bay have a look for hot brush, Another thing taken away (Thanks Fibro) I hope you find it soon
Take care Debs
