I have suffered with my condition for over 20 years and have also been told I was born with it, the doctor agrees I have all the symptoms of fibromyalgia but says they haven't givin it that label as it all falls under the same umbrella of musculoskeletal disorder, which is what I have always been told that it was, is that normal to be told this or should I push for it to be diagnosed as fibromyalgia. They also seem to be at a loss as what medication to give me, currently on gabapenten, zomorph, paracetamol and naproxen and mirtazipine.

I would suggest asking your doctor to refer you to rheumatology . If you feel confident that you have fibromyalgia. I asked for a referral after I had so many blood tests that came back" normal ". I knew I was right and I am glad I did. It took a while but I did get my diagnosis and I'm so glad to put a name to my health condition.
It probably won't change your meds or your pain but it's just piece of mind.
Just be aware that once you have the diagnosis of fibro the doctors put EVERYTHING DOWN TO THAT! For example: patient presents to gp with a broken fingernail it's her fibro, or patient presents at gp with leg hanging off .... its fibro !!! Just be aware that if you accept the fibro diagnosis they won't look for any other root causes!!
They are all ready doing this, any time I have to go to the gp, they say its because of my musculoskeletal disorder and never really look into my issues, so that won't be a change, just want to get the correct diagnosis and the correct help I should get. Thank you for replying.
