I get tremors that run down my arm and then sometimes my fingers do this weird moving on their own thing. Sometimes it happens in the left arm sometimes the right and sometimes its the legs and toes, in out in out and shake them all about.
It was all made up until the neurology department actually saw it happen. There was no way a human could move their fingers that way under conscious control. I was possessed by the spirit of a Kentucky fried chicken cook. I have also been know to throw the odd dish across the room. It can however be a sign of other things, I would get it checked out.
Oh Yes, the neck one, I get that too, like the devil has walked over my grave in hobnail boots. Really creepy as it slithers right up into my hair. Ergh!
hi Rob, I have started having this in my left hand🤷♀️I had an appointment with dr today but had so many other things to sort out re meds, bp, b12 jab, scans, meds, sleep clinic(nobody answering the phone when I call to make an appointment 😤etc etc that I completely forgot to mention it. So I’m in the same boat as you atm. I suppose the sensible thing to do is make an appointment, both of us and get it looked into. Better safe than sorry.
Tremors are definitely worth arranging to speak to the GP about.Although some people with Fibro get tremors there can be so many other reasons for them either acute or chronic that need to be ruled out, Essential Tremor is quite common with many chronic illnesses.
You need to request for your GP to start with some straight forward blood tests first, full blood count, kidney function test to show your sodium and potassium level, magnesium , Vitamin B 12, Folates, Iron /Ferritin and if you haven't had one in the last year a Vitamin D test.
This is to rule out simple deficiency or low nutrient count problems which can cause tremors but they will be improved easily with the right daily supplements .
People whom have B 12 injections can quite often get tremors in the weeks before a jab as their levels reduce. Sodium or Potassium imbalances can effect your nerves and cause some very unusual mental and Neurological symptoms.
The GP should try some simple movements on your arm to see if they can stimulate the tremor or to assess if it could be caused by a trapped or compressed nerve.
Generally , they should send you for xrays on the neck and shoulders. They may order a CT scan or Ultrasound or choose to leave this to a specialist. They will also do things like your blood pressure and check your heart to make sure it isn't linked to any change in pressure or heart rate.
If they think it is an essential tremor they may send you to musculoskeletal department for confirmation , they may do nerve conduction tests, and they are likely to send you for physio to help bring it under control. One sided, unilateral tremors just in the hand can sometimes also be caused by Carpal Tunnel.
You should also get an , ANA , ANCA and pANCA , ESR, liver function and other blood tests from the GP if the nutrient blood tests come back in mid normal range to rule other issues that could cause similar symptoms. You can request at this point for your GP to refer you to a Neurologist for further examination for other causes of your tremor. They may choose to do an MRI or EEG.
A tremor definitely isn't always Parkinson's , MS or sign of something you may be anxious of, but it is also one of those signs that your GP should not just brush off as being part of Fibro either.
I get regular tremors and numbness down the right side, often without pain , because of two types of Migraine that cause various physical symptoms including slurred speech and things someone might fear to be stroke or Parkinson's like . The right advice and treatment from the Neurologist has vastly improved this.
Good luck at the GP , it will be worth checking for your own peace of mind, Bee
thank you for all that information im waiting on hospital appointments at the moment it’s a awful thing to have I’ve fell from bed twice now I’ve hit myself in the face that woke me up lol I hate the tremors in my hands very embarrassing when paying for stuff trying to get money out of my purse at least I know it’s more common than I realized thanks again 🌷
Do you think the falling from bed is linked to the tremors or are you also having other neurological symptoms like dizziness and loss of balance. If you haven't done so yet , write down all your symptoms and the amount of incidents you have had with loss of balance , falls , dizziness , tremors to show the hospital consultant, it will help them assess the level of the problem , which tests will help to diagnose the issue and what treatment it might help you to try.
Don't lose hope on sorting the problem out. When diagnosed there are lots of ways you can adapt how you do things and CBT to try which help to keep things in control. There are also medicinal treatments which can often stabilise things completely. Good luck and take care , Bee
It started with tremors but I am one stage passed the tremors. My hand cramps into a weird position. It is only for a few seconds and when I massage it gradually unfurls. Lately my right arm has been painful. It starts from my left shoulder when I wake and spreads down my arm during the day. I saw a doctor who said the tendon in my right arm is strained but as I am right handed there is not much I can do to rest my arm. I am also in my 70's so my muscles have become weaker
Don't you just love fibromyalgia !! Just when you think you have been through all it can throw at you.. it finds something else. I just long for the day when Regulated Cannabis is allowed. CBD doesn't help but Cannabis would hopefully relax you.
Hi Rob172I found that the same happened to me when they put me on preagabin but I did have it in both arms but since I have stopped taking it I don't have the tremors
Hi Rob172, just catching up with your post and reading replies from members with their own experiences and advice, I agree I think seeing the doctor for a piece of mind is the right direction too go (you may have already booked in )? Let us know how if you get an appointment and how everything goes, take care .
I go by the rule of ,if it's new or soooo much pain it's G.P all the way,
You may not get an appointment,A phone call from your G.P is a better than nothing or she may tell you to go to a walk in centre, trouble with a walk in centre is you might have a long wait, You might make things worse, Other wise if you are able,Sleep it off,
Your body tells you what's needed,Hope you feel better soon
