Hi Indie. I have nightmares all the time and they can be quite scary. I also get a very dry mouth with a terrible taste. Not sure what can be done about this.

Hi Indie, I had awful nightmares every night when taking Gabapentin for fibromyalgia. They stopped when I came off it, so it could be that yours are medication related.I also wake up with a dry mouth every morning.but don't know if that's also medication related.

Bad dreams can be a side effect of Oramorph and other morphine like drugs, is Aramorph morphine based?

β€’ in reply toCat00

Hi everybody. Thanks for replying. Yes Aramorph is Morphine Solution. Been taking it for 1 year. Nightmares only just started 2 weeks ago. Pain too bad to come off the Aramorph so I will look into finding a solution. Take Care.

I guess I was lucky in a way bc morphine never had any effect on me so I wasn't on it for very long so withdrawal wasn't hard. I remember bad dreams and lots of itchiness though, just no pain relief, which I think are classic side effects of morphine.

Hi, I have just been reading the replys about Aramorph but please be aware that Codiene and Codiene Phosphate also has the same effect. I have had a bone dry mouth at night and in the mornings for such a long time thinking I was dehydrated but I have now discovered its the codeine without a doubt!

Not sure but I had it back in the summer for a few weeks. I could only drink soups as my mouth so dry. Lost 1 and half stone.

I do keep a bottle of fizzy Spring water by my bedside and often wake up and drink , yes the dreaded dry mouth , medication can play a part I think , and I’ve brought a throat spray too help. I do tend too lay off any coffee etc in the evening and keep too cold drinks , I always mix up a bottle of diet lemonade and orange juice and find that quite refreshing in the evening.

I've started waking up with dry mouth and dry throat, sometimes like glued together. I'm taking Evacal 1 in the morning and evening, and I'm taking Pregabalin and Tramadol. I've been taking them all for a while but the dryness is recent - every day. I've been blaming dehydration but I just can't drink that much. I do try, and feel it's enough for me. Does anyone know if these medications cause dryness? Or am I really sleeping with my mouth open?

Hi there

Sorry to hear of your problem .I have an extremely dry mouth & throat & was diagnosed with Sjorgrens Syndrome .It's an autoimmune illness and basically dries out your secretions, tears, saliva .

I use a throat spray called Glandosane which is very effective & saliva pastels which aren't that great I find but everyones different and reacts in different ways so maybe worth a try.

Speak to your health practitioner and see what they can offer you.

Good luck .
