Hello, it’s horrid when pain flares and keeps us awake at night, i am wondering if the melatonin has had time too kick in yet ?how many days ago did you start ?we certaintly can keep trying meds until something starts too help with pain. I find havin a bath in the evening and soaking helps relaxes my muscles then I tend to get into bed after that rather than sit in the chair as I can get more comfortable and try and relax my body down I then try switch off with a good film /drama series I can sink into , my pains seem worse during the day when I am on the move more. Have you tried ibruofen/bio freeze rub in cream ? (always check with pharmacist when on any meds 1st) I’ve been there with lack of sleep and then energy levels are non exsistant during the day. Yes when it’s really cold I tend too fell it more for sure,

You have my total empathy , Ive been on that merry go round as I called it, i would go back too your doctor and say it’s been 2 weeks and latest med is not working, I found the other day I was in a conversation with friends and I kept going blank , they were really understanding but if it happened say in a shop or on the phone would be more difficult, keep working with the doctor until your satisfied your taking something that is actually helping, good luck.

I too struggle to sleep or have restorative sleep. Always feeling exhausted. I have those conversation blanks too. My mind is completely wiped at times and I feel quite embarrassed by it. Not everyone has been understanding. Thank you for talking about it. Makes me feel understood and normal.

Hi JDiva93

I was like yourself at night the pain was really bad and I dreaded going to bed as I new it would be little or no sleep , however I am now on a 7 day duration Buprenorphine Transdermal patch that I honestly swear by , I also take 500 mg of Naproxan along with 1 tramadol twice daily and paracetamol for break through pain should I require it. Best combination of drugs for fibo pain I have ever had. I was originally taking 8 tramadol amatriptiline and gabapentine still in pain x

Hi, I have this problem with my fibromyalgia, find it hard to sleep at night restless legs, if I am in pain as I usually am everyday is something different some worse then others. What I do is a hot bath candles relax then go to bed hot water bottle . I take multivitamins and a magnesium every other day along side my duloxtine . I have tramdol for severe pain . Some one has said to try magnesium flakes in the bath that they absorb in to the muscles and help relax they are on amazon . Also I was told cbd oil but I haven't tried that. Going to get some bath flakes to try. It is hard some nights are better then others. Hope this helps .

Try eating a banana (contains magnesium & potasium)before bedtime, plus magnesium, might help restless legs.

I am in the same position as you. Re poor sleep and pain. The muscle pain is the worst its been. Just from washing dishes and then the thigh pain from not doing alot of exercise. I use Magnesium spray which does give some relief. I tried Melatonin but it knocked me out the next day. I think I will give it a go again as the poor sleep is going on for too long. I also occasionally try diazepam 1mg. I use very sparingly as GP only gives me a small supply but it actually works for the poor sleep and muscle pain. I do not have a bath which is a real set back as baths with epsom salts can really help and making the bath a self nuturing place with candles and gentle music in the back ground is a real treat. I do use an app Insight Timer, which has lots of choice for supportive music to help with sleep, meditation. They actually do work for me some times. insig.ht/37DZmce9PubI hope this helps. And you have my upmost sympathy here.

I take Amitriptyline at night, works for me

I really struggle with sleep even acupuncture hasn't been able to help. I weaned myself off amitriptyline as I was awake every hour, this has helped with the sleep but not so much with the pain. I've also found that if I take melatonin & wild lettuce instead of my painkillers, that does improve the length of sleep I get but alas I still wake up exhausted regardless.

I could have written this myself so have total empathy with you. My pain is just about bearable with meds during the day but at night it seems to increase. I struggle to get to sleep then once I am asleep I need to get up to pee so then I struggle to get back to sleep, it's a vicious circle. I have been taking 2 melatonin a night since July had some sleep but 3 hours at most. Have a meds review on the 17th Nov so will see what happens. I have found being at work is not helping at all and I'm struggling with that as I love my job, but between the fibro pain and fatigue I'm not coping.

I also do the speech thing too so frustrating.

Tryptizol (Amitriptyline) should reduce your pain and make you sleep. Unfortunately some patients dont tolerate very well this medication since it has some undesirable side effects

zolpidem is the best hypnotic for sleeping and helps me sleep every night. It has practically no side effects. Unfortunately in the UK you wont get a second prescription for this medication even though out of the country is widely available for fibro patients. In my view it is totally ridiculous because the insomnia will make your symptoms worse and preventing fibro patients from taking regularly zolpidem or other hypnotics is just simply wrong and shows how little knowledge doctors have about this syndrome.

All the best and good luck
