Crazy cat lady

I have refused antidepressants to help with fibromyalgia pain. I take 6 paracetamol a day to take the edge off . I take a tramadol every other night so I can sleep. Does anyone have constant hip pain? I can’t get any relief at all . Wondering if I should have an X-ray to rule out damage there.

Definitely worth asking as we can easily put down pain to fibromyalgia when it is in fact something else. I went to the doctors because of hip pain and as he was new to the practice I think he felt I was seeking more meds. I made it clear I wasn't and wanted alternatives eg hydrotherapy, physio etc as I was convinced it was arthritis. Fortunately, the physio said he wanted xrays of both hips before he would see me and it revealed arthritis in both hips.

The young doctor and I had a great relationship after that ad he actually listened to me. Mine isn't quite bad enough to have replacements but the exercises etc I was given has helped.

Hi,I take amitryptline 10 mgm x2 at night. This keeps my sciatica and bad back at bay and as a bonus helps me sleep.

Last year I started having hip pain in the morning.

I upgraded my mattress topper to a thicker 1 from Silentnight.

I put it on top of the other one.

I do a few stretching exercises when I wake up.

I can’t take tramadol,it makes me vomit..

It’s really difficult, everybody is difficult, things work differently for different individuals.

Have you asked your GP for something other than paracetamol ?

Take care

PREGABALIN WORKS BRILLIANTFOR NERVE PAIN..X YOU CAN TAKE ANTI SICKNESS TABLETS BEFORE TRAMADOL BUT CODEINE IS MILDER.. SO YOU COUKD TRY BUYING COCODAMOL 8/500 [8mg CODEINE with 500mg Paracetamol] IF THAT HELPS A BIT ASK GP FOR THE 30/500 STRENGTH

IBUPROFEN HELPS TOO ..

BEST WISHES XX

Sorry to hear that you have difficult hip pain. Yes definitely bring it up with your doctor and find out if any skeletal or spine related issues are involved. May I ask why you refused antidepressants but OK to take such high dose of pain meds?

Hi Lisa Snow.I was on antidepressants but came off them as they made no difference . I suspect people have varying degrees of fibromyalgia pain ,as I know someone with fibromyalgia, who walks miles and hardly sits down. I do try to do things but am in agony afterwards. Take care xx

I came off mt antidepressants which were prescribed for fibromyalgia pain, after being on them 6 years. They did nothing for me either.

Hi penthouse 13 at this very moment I'm screaming with the pain in my left hip I do have arthritis in both my hips but this isn't arthritis pain (you get to know which is which pain if that doesn't sound silly ) and I'm in a lot of pain so at the moment I'm just taking pain killers because getting an appointment at the doctors is like finding a gold nuggets in my garden so you not on your own gente hugs to you xx

🤣" gold nuggets in my garden", so funny and sadly so true. I feel like I don't have a doctor's surgery anymore. I don't even understand it bc they kept telling us over and over again that they don't deal with Covid so not sure what they have been doing....

Hi Queenielot. I was on antidepressants but didn’t find any difference in my pain . I get your frustration with getting GP appointments, even though I’ve realised they don’t have many answers to managing Fibromyalgia pain. Take care xxx

I would honestly try the anti depression tablets. My life changed when I took Duloxotine. Unfortunately, I feel my body is use to them now. Having more flare ups daily! I take 19 tablets a day for fibromyalgia, ibs, anxiety, depression and pain. I also do meditation and have been referred to pain management. I’ve had every test under the sun and no sign of damage. Been like this since I was 28.

Hi Mum 37.I know your pain. No matter what I do makes no difference. I found no relief with antidepressants so stopped taking them. Maybe I will try a different one again in the future. I will try to get a GP appointment to find reason for hip pain. Take care.

Hi I have constant hip and lower back pain the pain radiates into the top of my thighs and makes walking a challenge at times I’ve had a bone scan and blood tests all normal it’s very painful most of the time I take Flarin ibuprofen capsules for joint and muscle pain only lasts for approx 4 hours.

To top it all I’m constantly exhausted never feel like I’m refreshed after a nights sleep can’t do the things I used to do I pace myself as the slightest amount of house work effects the lower back and muscles in my body leaving me in a lot of pain

Hi. I did have really bad hip pain years and years ago and tried the amitryptaline which for me was about being a zombie, so I dumped that. Unless I do occasional stupid stuff on a ladder or walk too far I don't get it any more although there is wear and tear. Sugar was and is the real culprit for me but it's hard to stay off it if you are needing energy. (Go for d.ribose from Amazon if you can afford to but not at night.) -The turning point for the pain I had was a combination of neurofen and occasionally neurofen plus judiciously used and given up sometimes because it affects other things like gut and with the codeine can be addictive. But good for emergency-impossible-to-deal-with-pain. I continue to use traditional chiropractic and traditional chinese acupuncture including five elements. There is a new thing called a serola belt which helps train your muscles to support pelvis and hips. Better to go through a chiropractic assessment before getting one. Use a pillow between the knees when side sleeping to align your hips properly and get some sort of mattress softening thingy if you don't already use one. Magnesium salt baths, magnesium glycinate at night - broccoli etc. Google everything including natural remedies. Keep stroking that gorgeous adorable looking cat.

Hi JimiJay. Thank you so much for your advice. I have one of those pillows and it does help. I can’t take anything with ibuprofen as I have IBS. I might try a chiropractor though. I have a massage now and then but although great at the time, agony the next day! I get lots of comfort from my beautiful Cheetah (my cat). I recommend having a cat if you are not able to dog walk.

Ahhh! Cheetah! Purrrfect name for a cat. - I often do get a reaction to therapy but see it as a healing crisis and it only lasts about one night and half a day. At other times I come out of the chiropractor's and feel fairly normal again. It's a learning curve. - I've started taking colpermin again very occasionally for my ibs when it stops me going back to sleep after a night wake. I've mentioned the Chinese Clock to others on this site. You can google it to get an idea of when your body is doing what most intensely during the day and night - what you do with the info is your own thing! - We would all three here love a cat here but my daughter in law reacts to them (and so do the wild birds) - however if we are sent another stray, well ...... but it wont be quite as civilised and purry.

It's worth asking your doctor to refer you for an exray, as not everything is down to Fibromyalgia. Gorgeous cat by the way 🤗🐱
