Google The Spoon Theory. It can be a great help and also help you explain to others why you can't always join in the Socialising!

Cheers, midori

Hello welcome Galaxy51 I'm pretty new to this site too. I've had fibro for about 8 years.I've tried lots of things as pain changes plus I have a back problem.

Anyway, it's trial n error at the start. Maybe write a diary of how your pains are behaving and where they are. If I get pains all over and it's intense, I call this a fibro attack. When that happens I just do nothing but rest, even just changing the bed can bring on my attack. You will learn what makes you worse and how to make it more comfortable. We have to live with this dam thing so try n learn how to control it. By writing a diary will help you with this. I've learnt my limits and if I really want to do something like play with my grandson I make sure my diary is free for the next couple of days as I know I'm going to be in for it. So pick your activity wisely, is it worth it? Mine was lol.

After trying gabipentine and a different antidepressants and dhydrocodine. I've now found a combination that works for me at the moment, I take duloxitine, it's antidepressants but works well with fibro pain. I'm on Tramadol, I'm new to this but I'm giving it a go. I take naproxen and omeprazole.

Hope this helps a little

Hi Wend70Thanks for the info the diary sound a good idea ill certainly give that a go.

I'm currently on Gabapentine 600mg 3 Times a day, but can't say its doing much so I'm going to contact my doctor yet again and ask to try something else.

We just have to carry on best we can and know when to rest.

Thanks Galaxy51

Your very welcome. If you are on antidepressants maybe try asking for duloxitine as that is a painkiller for fibro too in addition to what ever you take. If Gabipentine isn't working yet maybe switch to naproxen but may have to take omeprazole as that protects your stomach. Pain doesn't seem to ever go away it's finding a way to ease it. If you have a bad day, write down what you have been doing differently then you can refer back to it.Take care and good luck

Hiya Galaxy,

First of all welcome to the site. It takes time to learn what helps you, your doctor will try different medications to try and help ease the pain. Myself I find heat comforting when I'm in pain so use electric heat pads. A weighted blanket is another comforting thing I own. You will find that you have good and bad days and will only know what type of day it will be when you wake up. So making plans goes right out of the window. Most of all don't overdo it on a good day learn to pace yourself. Now I will confess that I find that one hard to do sometimes lol!

🤗😊

Hi thereThank you for the good advice I'm up for trying anything to ease the pain.

I'm trying to remain positive and find a new normal.

Thanks again

That's the right attitude to have! When you reach acceptance that the old you has gone you will find this much easier to deal with. It is way to easy to drop into the doom and gloom. Down there life is unbearable both for you and the others around you (even fellow chronic pain sufferers). Depression is a one fibro symptom I steer clear of. Happy to help if you ever need it. 🤗😊
