Hi Ginger

I think you'll be happy you joined this site, as everyone's very caring, helpful and supportive. We try to keep each other's spirits up with a funny post and support, try to give useful advise - if we can, hints etc. As we are all in the same boat we can simpathise if you need to get something off your chest too. It helps you to feel less alone.

The mother page is good and there is a NHS web page on it too.

I hope that being on here helps you in some way.

Have a good weekend and best wishes 😊

Hi there Gingerapple

Welcome to the forum πŸ˜€ I have to be honest and say that I don't know anything about your other illness but I know about Fibromyalgia! I have had the conditon for over 30 years.

You don't say how long ago you were diagnosed. I only ask as it can be very daunting when you have been recently diagnosed.

If you have a look on our mother site you will find lots of useful information on Fibro fmauk.org

You will find the forum full of lovely, kind compassionate caring people. I have made some truly wonderful lifelong friendships during the time I have been here.

We have all ages of people, with varying degrees of Fibro. We all do our best to support and look out for each other.

I very much look forward to chatting to you again. If you need any help navigating the forum please let me know and I will be happy to help. If you have a look to the right of your screen under Pinned Posts in blue, you can read up about locking posts and what this means.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hello Lu, Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I have had Fibro for probably 7 years, maybe longer. I don't really know anymore. The pain is mostly in my arms, legs and feet. Lipomatosis dolorosa is vey painful too, these are lipomas that hurt, benign tumours under the skin, which is why we always look fatter, too. I hope you are well today and pain-free, or comfortable. I am already happy being on this site, as I have heard from many people. :) I hope you have a great weekend :) Peace and love, Lu x

Hi GingerApple, great name you've reminded me I have some non alcoholic Ginger beer for us to have with the chilli tonight, just tasted it and it starts of subtle then bam! Lol My poor wife likes it mild but my son and I love it hot, I have bought a pot of natural yoghurt for her!

In my opinion this is the best fibro sight in the land with tons of friendly, down to earth, caring and knowledgable people.

I know a fair bit about fibro but forgive my ignorance on your other illness I shall have to look it up. It's funny nearly everyone comes with a few other problems as well mine being insulin dependent diabetes.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy

Hi Patrick, thank you so much for your message!! I am glad I remind you of ginger ale!! I love that stuff, too :) And chilli, although I can't eat that anymore..:( Lipomatosis dolorosa is another horrible disease, comes as another symptom or creates Fibro. I wish you a lovely weekend with your family and chat again, I hope, Bev x

Hi Bev, the chilli went down reallywell. We're all veg heads so slightly different from your normal version. Sometimes I feel like I'm working in a restaurant the unrequested feedback I get! Lol at least it's mainly positive 😊

I usually just drink water or mint tea but find ginger ale or beer takes away the grotty taste of some of the tablets leave too.

I looked up Lipomatosis dolorosa, it must be like having double fibro or permenantly in a flare up, it does not sound good maybe somone here has it too if you look in the archive section.

Best wishes Patrick xxx

Ps nothing wrong with some silver threads amongst the gold!

Just like to say welcome. I must admit that I had to look up your other illness as it is something I am not familiar with. Interestingly it said in the article I read that it can lead to Fibromyalgia. Hope you get alot if help and friendship on here and I look forward to your future posts.x

Hi rosewine, thank you for your welcome message :) I don't know if it isn't the other way round, but..I have it so I just try to ignore it..lol. I do really, I pretend it's not there, that's my way of coping with it, I am always pleased when I finish work and head for the couch and take my shoes and clothes off! That's my pet hate, wearing shoes and clothes..:) Some days I get depressed for 5 minutes and then drink my tea, eat my toast and egg and then the moment is over. I already like it here on the site and I too, hope to read and hear from you soon. Peace and love, Bev x :)

Hi Ginger. From one red head to another I have only been on this site for not quite a week and already feel in safe hands. We all have our various problems but sadly all are dealing with the hell that is Fibro. There is always someone to talk to even during the night when all in household are sleeping except you. If you have any questions just ask. Wishing you a peaceful and pain free night. Squishy cuddles.

Good morning DeeGee54, Dianne, that made me smile! I am a red-head, but have blonde hait now to dampne the grey! :) Yes! Me too, I feel very welcome here and safe and it's a nice feeling to know that other people understand how I feel. And it's nice to know that I am not alone. I love those squishy cuddles, I send some back to you for as pain free Saturday :) Love Bev xx

Hi Bev yes sharing with people that REALY understand how you feel is a big help. The squishy cuddles are what my lovely Granddaughter says, she is nearly eleven and has ADHD and Global Learning Disabilities, and really squeezes when she cuddles you, so squishy cuddles are only for me because 'Granny has sore bones'. She is our Sunshine Girl. Hope you have a good weekend. Love DianneπŸ˜€X

Hi Arymretep, thank you for your message ;) It is related to Fibro, but no one knows which came first? The chicken or the egg..:) Here a small note of it: Dercum's disease (lipomatosis dolorosa) is a relatively unknown illness. The disorder usually affects middle-aged females. Subcutaneous fatty tissue deposits may occur in many parts of the body. The upper arms, elbows, stomach wall, buttocks, thighs, or knees are most commonly affected. Severe hyperalgesia is found on light pressure and touch. It hurts and itches and I get fatter, and have IBS now due to it so my eating regimen is weird, so I can never lose weight, not really, but I swim and exercise as much as possible. Have a pain-free wekkend, Bev x :)

In my case my lumps came first ,for I was born with two parents which gave me genetics lol and this'd illnesses, h.s oils under skin which give me cysts from mother, thirty six lumps on just lower part of arm on my father,he gave me the lipomas hereditary thing ,then I asked my Dr if fibro was connected to the lumps seen as I read online both or three even are all fibrous tissue related ,,,doc says not related but to me that made sense.

β€’ in reply toGingerapple

Also did you have any ops to get any lumps removed? If so what was outcome?mines grew back in six days after one was cut out of my back

Gingerapple profile image
Gingerappleβ€’ in reply to

Hi there curlybacks πŸ€—No, I didnt want them removed because a good doctor told me that they come back very quickly. I just live with it :( But I m not depressed :) Are you ok? I am writing this on my phone and my phone says No! :) so phone crashing a bit. Will get back to you tomorrow, Big hug!

Thank you very much for your reply :) It is a rare disease and then it is also not known and so no disability or special treatment for ot, pain killers don't help. I'm sure I will love this site :)
