Does anyone have pain just under their breast going along your chest?

Also getting a strange sensation in my stomach and when I eat the flavours come back up on me. Not like acid reflux or anything like that, just the flavours. I’m not sure if it’s actually my stomach or the pain under my breast which spreads along my chest it’s hard to describe as it’s more like a sensation in my stomach but pain under my breast I have considered Costocondritist but any time I speak to my GP they keep saying it’s anxiety.

I have also started getting a sharp shooting pain up my spine and into the soft tissue then going up the back of my head. It’s scary when it happens and unbelievably painful.

I’d appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.

Yep - I have the same, pain under right rib, pain and at top of stomach, difficulty eating certain foods, constant indigestion whilst at the same time feeling hungry. I had a scan about two years ago as my GP thought it was gallstones but it came back clear so I have no clue. I am awaiting another scan, been waiting for months now, GP not interested, can't get through to surgery, fobbed off by receptionist on rare occasions I do get through. I am steadily losing weight as I find it less painful not to eat too much. All this in addition to the constant aches, pains and headaches which have got a lot worse over the last year. Only good thing in my case is that I am now retired so if I am tired I just lie down and go to sleep. Mornings are not too bad but afternoons I take to my bed, I am not very good company I'm afraid. I also get so fed up when people are told they are suffering from anxiety. My doctor tried that with me - I am probably the most down to earth practical person on the planet and not given to fits of anxiety and I told her that I was anxious because I was ill not ill because I am anxious, of course you are worried if you have all these weird symptoms, no big surprise really. Keep smiling!

I started to have excruciating heartburn and didn’t want to take any more medication to add to what I was already taking for Rheumatoid Disease. I went on a low acid diet for six months which has helped and I’m now slowly reintroducing more acidic foods. 🙂

My reflux is awful and I have it all day long, I am constantly swigging gaviscon! I get it when I don’t eat, when I do eat, even in the middle of the night! I can no longer take anti inflammatory meds because of stomach ulcers. It seems since I had a car accident which triggered chronic pain conditions and fibro everything seems to have raised its ugly head, ulcers, acid, gallstones, TMJ, neuralgia etc.

I’m sorry you are suffering Braveheart it’s so painful. I found that stress had a large part to play with mine, and also bending over. Have you tried all the usual things, raising the head of your bed, not eating after 7.00pm, small meals etc. etc.? I was taking Gaviscon which gave temporary relief and I also tried ginger and Polo mints which also helped. I also noted everything I ate and drank for six months to help me to identify what might have caused the symptoms. I cut out meat and dairy and switched to almond milk. I know it sounds drastic but the pain was almost unbearable and at the time it seemed a small price to pay. So far, I am very happy with the improvement. BTW, I know how expensive Gaviscon is and if you don’t already know, I have read on one of the forums that it has been given on prescription. 🙂

Yes I’ve tried everything; gastro team wrote to my gp and advised I need gaviscon advance and can just ring for prescriptions as often as I need. I also have swallowing difficulties when it’s really bad it feels like everything gets stuck and then I feel like my throat is really thick! Thank you for your kind message it’s really lovely to have support and kindness in this forum

I have these too. My doctor says it IS part of acid reflux and told me to take lanzaprazole. Maybe you could try some over the counter gaviscon advance and see if that works. Acid reflux is not necessarily just food coming back up. I have had silent reflux for about 20 years without realising. Hoarse voice and sore throats. Now I have the full blown pain of rib pain, stomach pain, chest pain, gastritis and hiatal hernia. Foods to avoid for the rib and chest pain are fizzy drinks, alcohol, chocolate, fatty foods and tomatoes. All the things I love!

It sounds similar to the symptoms I got with heartburn, have you discounted this?
