Severe lower back pain, and leg pain
Hi rolltide2739
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted for you below a link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:
I am so genuinely sorry to read of your pain and what you have described could possibly be sciatica? I have pasted you an excerpt form the *NHS Choices cache on Sciatica:
*Symptoms of sciatica
When the sciatic nerve is compressed or irritated, it can cause:
pain
numbness
a tingling sensation that radiates from your lower back and travels down one of your legs to your foot and toes
weakness in the calf muscles or the muscles that move the foot and ankle
The pain can range from being mild to very painful, and may be made worse by sneezing, coughing or sitting for a long period of time.
While people with sciatica can also have general back pain, the pain associated with sciatica usually affects the buttocks and legs much more than the back.
Although you have said that you are trying to avoid going to the doctors, I think it would be the best thing to do and tell them how you are, and what is happening for you.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken

Like Ken I think its more than a fibro problem, maybe sciatica or OA? you will only get answers from a g.p.. If its gets unbearable that's what A&E is for, make sure its arthritic and not a blood clot, they are mega painful and cause pins n needles below the blockage, look out for bruising or blueness / redness surfacing-don't delay if this happens, I put off a bad neck strain headache some years ago which turn out to be a sub arachnoid!! I kept telling my daughter I couldn't go to A&E with a stiff neck and headache, I am so glad she forced me.
Definitely sounds like the sciatica I get, Rolltide2739. When I first had it the mistake I made was resting too much and not keeping moving. There was a similar thread on here a few days ago with lots of suggestions so you could try searching on this site for 'sciatica' and you'll probably find it.
I would like to suggest to consult a neurologist. I had been suffering from the same sciatica and finally recovering after long treatment of 5 months.
