Does anyone have any idea what could be going on with my leg. I have been getting a strangling sensation in my right calf and just behind my knee. It is very hard to bend also if feels as though my leg is being crushed . I am sure this can't just be fibro I am worried but when I go to the doctors he just says it will be the fibro surely he should have a proper look at it not just fob me off . I am worried in case it is DVT has anyone any ideas please x

Hi michphil

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

I am very sorry but I do not know what the problem could be? It could be Fibro or something else? I have pasted you three links from NHS Choices relating to the type of pain that you have described, so I genuinely hope that you find them useful:

nhs.uk/conditions/Polymyalg...

nhs.uk/conditions/knee-pain...

nhs.uk/Conditions/Sciatica/...

It would probably be advisable to discuss this issue with your GP just to rule DVT out? And to keep your GP up to date with how you are getting on?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi michphil yes I have this problem all the time but all ways have it checked out by GP and demand for test to be done for DVT as sometimes they put ever think down to fibro as we all know we have a lot of sypmtoms and problems with fibro my daughter had one two years ago and they kept saying it was because of her weight and in the end went A-E she was scaned and was admitted right away so i always say better safe than sorry and good luck keep us posted

I have similar and in my case it is part of the fibro, it comes and goes with no seeming reason. If it is constant please try and see another doctor at the practice who might look at you with "new eyes". I only say that because years back when I was only in my late 20's early 30's I kept on having the same feeling of tightness in the calves and back of knee. My doctor kept on fobbing me off saying it was some virus and I kept on saying but it is only in my legs and not anywhere else in my body. It was only when I collapsed and was rushed to hospital that it was diagnosed as DVT and I ended up on Warfarin for 6 months . I didn't have the classic swelling (or I couldn;t see it) or the hot feeling that sometimes happens. Let us know how you get onx

I agree. Your doctor should do an MRI on it. I don't know why doctor's want to pass everything off to the fibro. Granted it's horrible enough on it's own. Could you possibly change doctors? Or perhaps see an orthopedic doctor? Hope this helps sweetheart!!! xxx Mitzi

Hi michphil,

Just wanted to let you know that I had this but it also got a hot flush every so often. In the end went to gp and saw a different doc to my usual one and even though she said I didn't have the swelling or any redness she would phone the dvt clinic at hosp and they said to send me over. Really nice nurses and did blood test and was sure it would come back ok but came back borderline so had an ultrasound and I did have one just below the back of my knee. If you can go back to gp and ask again but if not I would go to A & E. I think its not fair to be told its the fibro just cause we suffer with that unfortunately other things happen to us to just the same as other people. Take care and I really hope you get this sorted out. xx Madwoman.

Thank you everyone I am going to go to the A and E as my gp just a keeps saying fibro so now I am fed up with being fobbed off every time . My OH is going to take me this afternoon I have read everyone's replies and I have been persuaded to go . I admit I am worried but I need to sort this before it goes any further. I will keep you up to date.

Thanks everyone

Gentle hugs

Xx
