Why would she make a comment like that? Nobody knows what us individuals are going through that suffer with ill health, we can “look” fine but aren’t 🥲What did you say to her? X

I’ve already printed off information regarding fibromyalgia and exactly what it is, over the weekend I’m going to get a folder full of it and insist he read up on it .... I was absolutely lost for words to be honest, unusual for me and I’m not really sure he’s allowed to say such a thing

I don’t think he is allowed to say stuff like that!!! That’s awful!

I would direct him to the Equality Act 2010 equalityhumanrights.com/en/... Comments like that are clearly recognised as harassment and as a 'manager' he should be aware more than most that the act comes into play for people working with hidden disabilities. He should be doing everything reasonably practicable to allow you to continue working rather than 'Watching You' & making idiotic comments.

😡 Tell him ''I watch you, you don't look like like you lack empathy.........''

Ask your manager which medical qualifications she has?

To the manager, You don't look ignorant, but you are. Then inform the manager of your difficulties.

Oh dear. He should not say stuff like that. He is not in your body. Sorry you are going through that. But not surprised because at my work my colleagues say I don't look ill. I just ignore them. People are ignorant and less compassionate with people with disabilities. Take care💐

Hi, and I'm sorry to read this. I don't know the history or context here, or to what extent you are aware of your rights, but you may find the following link re the Equality Act 2010 and Fibro useful as a starting point:usdaw.org.uk/CMSPages/GetFi....

I guess you would like to improve the relationship with your manager and nip these sorts of comments in the bud. Do you have someone you feel you can trust to discuss this with? Ideally another manager or more senior colleague? And if you have an HR dept, then you might consider talking to them at some point, too - although it may not have to come to that

Best wishes

I would have replied "I don't look like I'm struggling and you don't look stupid so I guess we are both wrong"

My boss thinks fibro is just being as he put it "a bit stiff after getting out of the car" The occupational therapist's report soon put him straight. The Directors have been great but my own boss, well he has his own opinions.
